Bakery Associate

Overview

Ippy's is a neighborhood bagel and donut shop, and we're looking to grow our bakery production team. We're looking for people who are excited to get their hands in the dough, learn different parts of the operation, and help us make really good food.

We're hiring at all experience levels. You don't need to know how to do everything listed below. We're looking for people with experience in any of these areas, or who are eager to learn. If you already have professional bakery, dough production, donut, bagel, or similar kitchen experience, your starting pay will reflect your experience.

Responsibilities

This is a hands-on role where you'll learn and work across multiple areas of our kitchen. You'll be trained in areas including:

• Mixing and preparing donut dough
• Frying and decorating donuts
• Mixing and preparing bagel dough
• Rolling and shaping bagels by hand
• Boiling and baking bagels
• Preparing ingredients and completing kitchen prep
• Organizing deliveries and stocking ingredients and supplies
• Cross-training on our hot sandwich and spread line
• Keeping your station and the larger kitchen clean, organized, and ready for service

What we're looking for

Some food service, bakery, or kitchen experience is preferred, but we're open to training the right person.

More importantly, we're looking for someone who:

• Works with a sense of urgency and takes pride in what they make
• Can learn a routine and move from task to task without needing constant direction
• Is a team player who's willing to jump in and help where needed
• Is reliable and comfortable with early-morning shifts
• Is eager to learn new skills and work across different stations
• Cares about cleanliness, organization, food safety, and consistency
• Wants to grow their skills alongside Ippy's as we continue to grow

Schedule

We're flexible and can accommodate part-time or full-time schedules, including 6-hour, 8-hour, and open-to-close shifts depending on availability and the needs of the shop.

Our kitchen starts early, with shifts beginning as early as 4:30–5:30 AM depending on the role. Other shifts begin throughout the morning, with most shifts ending between 12 PM and 3 PM.

We are currently open Monday and Thursday–Saturday from 7 AM–2 PM and Sunday from 7 AM–12 PM, with plans to extend hours and expand to 7 days a week.

Weekend availability is important, and full-time applicants should expect to work weekends.

Physical requirements

• Able to stand and move throughout a shift and work safely around hot kitchen equipment
• Able to lift up to approximately 50 lbs. and assist with deliveries, cleaning, and moving equipment as needed
