Bakery Operations Lead

Position Summary

We are looking for a reliable, organized, and hands-on employee to help with retail and catering orders, customer service, packing, deliveries, and the daily workflow of the bakery. This person must be willing to help wherever needed and make sure orders are prepared accurately and on time.

Responsibilities

• Answer phone calls and assist customers in person.
• Take retail, catering, custom cake, supermarket, and wholesale orders.
• Enter orders accurately into the bakery’s ordering system.
• Confirm all order details, including items, quantities, pickup or delivery time, address, payment status, and special instructions.
• Review current and upcoming orders to make sure everything is being prepared on time.
• Communicate with bakers, decorators, and other employees regarding order details and deadlines.
• Pack, label, double-check, and stage orders for pickup or delivery.
• Assemble pastries, cookies, cakes, and other products into boxes, trays, and platters.
• Assist with writing on cakes, adding decorations, making small finishing touches, and preparing products when trained.
• Prepare and organize large catering and wholesale orders.
• Make sure every order is complete and presentable before it leaves the bakery.
• Coordinate deliveries and make sure drivers leave with the correct orders, addresses, instructions, and paperwork.
• Make local deliveries when needed.
• Contact customers regarding confirmations, questions, changes, balances, or delays.
• Properly record payments, deposits, checks, and remaining balances.
• Help resolve basic customer concerns and report larger issues to the owner.
• Restock products, boxes, packaging materials, and other supplies.
• Monitor supplies and notify the owner before anything runs out.
• Keep the retail, packing, storage, and customer areas clean and organized.
• Assist with opening and closing duties.
• Report missing products, delayed orders, equipment problems, or other issues immediately.
• Help with cleaning, organizing, stocking, and any other bakery tasks as needed.

Qualifications

• Reliable, punctual, and responsible.
• Organized and detail-oriented.
• Able to multitask and follow through without constant reminders.
• Friendly and professional with customers.
• Comfortable using a computer, tablet, POS, and ordering system.
• Able to stay calm and organized during busy periods.
• Willing to pack orders, assemble products, clean, lift boxes, and help wherever needed.
• Bakery, restaurant, catering, retail, or customer-service experience is preferred.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to make local deliveries when necessary.
• Must be available on Sundays and Fridays.

Physical Requirements

• Able to stand and move around for most of the shift.
• Able to lift and carry bakery boxes, ingredients, trays, and supplies.
• Comfortable working in a busy bakery and kitchen environment.

• Orders are accurate, complete, packed properly, and ready on time.
• Catering trays and pastry boxes are assembled neatly and professionally.
• Deliveries leave on schedule with the correct products.
• Customers receive friendly and helpful service.
• Problems are noticed and communicated quickly.
• The bakery remains clean, organized, and properly stocked.

Pay: $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 per week
