Bakery Sales Assistant

Duties

• Greet customers warmly and assist them in selecting baked goods and related products
• Operate the POS (Point of Sale) system, including Micros POS, to process transactions accurately and efficiently
• Handle cash, credit card payments, and perform cash handling duties with precision
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards in the bakery area, adhering to food safety regulations
• Restock shelves, display cases, and ensure product freshness throughout your shift
• Upsell bakery items by suggesting complementary products to enhance customer experience
• Support food preparation tasks such as slicing bread or packaging baked goods as needed
• Manage time effectively during busy periods to ensure prompt service and smooth operations

Skills

• Proven experience in food service or retail sales environments, preferably within the food industry or restaurant settings
• Strong customer service skills with a friendly, approachable demeanor
• Basic math skills for handling cash transactions and making change accurately
• Knowledge of food handling procedures and sanitation standards to ensure safety and compliance
• Familiarity with POS systems, especially Micros POS, for efficient transaction processing
• Excellent time management abilities to prioritize tasks during high-volume periods
• Ability to upsell products confidently while maintaining a positive attitude
• Kitchen experience or food preparation skills are a plus but not required
• Effective communication skills for teamwork and customer interactions
