Are you an enthusiastic and motivated clinician looking to develop your skills as an Emergency Practitioner? Join us at an exciting time as we launch our brand-new Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC) at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham, home to a major trauma centre.

Opening on 12th October, our UTC offers a fantastic opportunity to become part of a new, dynamic service, helping to shape the future of urgent care while developing your own clinical expertise.

This is a developmental post, designed to support practitioners who are keen to learn, build confidence and progress their clinical skills within a supportive multidisciplinary team.

We are passionate about developing our workforce and will provide clinical supervision, mentorship and opportunities to consolidate your minor injury competencies, alongside further development through Minor Illness and Non-Medical Prescribing modules.

You don't need to have all the answers from day one. We are looking for individuals with enthusiasm, commitment and a genuine passion for delivering excellent patient care.

Join us from the beginning, develop your potential and grow with our team!

Main Duties, Tasks & Skills Required As a developing Emergency Practitioner, you will join our new Urgent Treatment Centre, delivering high-quality, compassionate care to patients presenting with a range of minor injuries and urgent illnesses.

This role offers a supported clinical development pathway, allowing you to consolidate existing minor injury knowledge and competencies while progressively developing the skills required to practise with greater confidence and autonomy.

Your Responsibilities Will Include

  • Assessing, examining and managing patients presenting with minor injuries, working within your level of competence.
  • Developing clinical assessment, diagnostic and decision-making skills through supervised practice.
  • Consolidating minor injury competencies, including relevant clinical assessment and practical procedures.
  • Developing skills in the assessment and management of minor illnesses through further education and training.
  • Undertaking investigations and developing appropriate treatment plans within your scope of practice.
  • Providing patient education, safety-netting advice and appropriate onward referrals.
  • Working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to deliver safe, effective and timely care.
  • Participating in clinical supervision, reflective practice and ongoing professional development.
  • Working towards additional qualifications, including Minor Illness and Non-Medical Prescribing, as part of your agreed development pathway.
