Ko wai mātou – About us

Kia ora. We’re Foodies. You know Gilmours, New World, PAK’nSAVE, and Four Square, right? That’s us!

With more than 320 stores and over 27,000 Foodies across Te Ika-a-Māui, Foodstuffs North Island is a co-operative proudly owned by our Members. Our purpose is simple – making sure New Zealanders get more out of life, and we’re driven by our aspiration to be one of New Zealand’s most customer-driven and productive retailers.

Te Tūranga – About the role

As our PAK'nSAVE Banner Trade Manager, you'll be the senior commercial lead responsible for driving trading performance across the PAK'nSAVE North Island banner.

This is a highly influential role where you'll shape and execute trading strategies that strengthen our competitive position, accelerate sales growth, and help our stores deliver exceptional value for customers. Working closely with Merchandise, Marketing, Store Operations, and PAK'nSAVE Members, you'll bring campaigns, seasonal events, and trading initiatives to life while ensuring we're delivering on our customer promise every day.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the development and execution of promotional campaigns, and seasonal trading initiatives.
  • Owning and managing the North Island retail activation calendar.
  • Driving sales, profitability, foot traffic, basket growth, and customer conversion across the banner.
  • Leveraging customer, market, and performance data to identify opportunities and inform strategic decisions.
  • Delivering meaningful store benchmarking reviews and actionable insights.
  • Partnering with stakeholders across Marketing, Merchandise, Operations, and Stores to ensure successful execution of trade initiatives.
  • Supporting pricing, profitability, and return on investment objectives across campaigns and activations.

He kōrero mōu – About you

You'll be a commercially minded retail leader who knows how to turn strategy into results. With experience operating in large-scale retail or complex commercial environments, you'll bring a strong understanding of what drives sales performance, profitability, and customer engagement. You're comfortable developing and executing trade or category strategies and can confidently use data and insights to identify opportunities and inform decision-making.

You'll also be a highly effective relationship builder who can influence across a broad stakeholder network and bring people together behind a common goal. Resilient, adaptable, and customer-focused, you thrive in fast-paced environments and are confident balancing competing priorities while delivering outcomes. Experience working with retail analytics platforms such as SAP, dunnhumby, or similar systems will be highly regarded.

Key requirements are:

  • Proven experience in large-format retail, multi-site operations, or a similar commercial environment.
  • Strong commercial acumen with a track record of driving sales growth, profitability, and business performance.
  • Experience developing and executing retail, trade, category, or go-to-market strategies.
