What they need
The Wildbirch is a boutique hotel where gatherings happen in gallery-like spaces filled with local art, fueled by beer from our on-site Midnight Sun Brewery, and catered with the kind of local flavor that makes people remember the meeting and the meal. Our two event spaces aren't stale, soulless boardrooms they've got a permanent service bar, rotating work from Anchorage artists, and the kind of energy that makes even a Tuesday retreat feel like a bucket-list experience.
We're looking for a Banquet Manager who can bring that same spirit to life on the floor, every event, every time.
What You'll Do
- Own the execution of every banquet, meeting, and private event at the hotel — from final walkthrough to last call, making sure setup, service, and breakdown run without a hitch
- Partner closely with our Banquet & Catering Sales team to turn a signed contract into a flawless, memorable event
- Recruit, train, schedule, and lead a banquet service team that treats every guest like a local friend, not a transaction
- Coordinate with Culinary, F&B, and Engineering to keep our event spaces stocked, staffed, and guest-ready.
- Hold the line on service standards: honest timing, proactive communication, allergy and dietary compliance, and full ownership when something needs fixing
- Manage banquet-event budgets, labor costs, and vendor relationships, including our local maker and brewery partners
- Be the on-the-ground problem-solver when a client's vision meets the reality of a live event and make it look easy
What You Bring
- 2+ years of banquet, catering, or event management experience, ideally in a hotel or independent hospitality setting
- A track record of leading a team through high-pressure service with a level head and a good attitude
- Comfort with event software, POS systems, and the logistics of juggling multiple events in a day
- Strong communication skills you can talk to a bride, a corporate meeting planner, and a dishwasher in the same afternoon and make each one feel heard
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as events demand
- A genuine interest in Anchorage, local food and drink culture, and making guests feel like part of the community not just customers
Compensation & Benefits
- $65,000–$75,000/year, depending on experience
- Health benefits, PTO, and standard hospitality perks
- Discounted employee rates at Wildbirch and other JDV by Hyatt properties
- A genuinely independent, creative property where your ideas about how to run a great event actually get heard
Ready to help us throw the kind of event people talk about for years? Apply today.
