What they need

Hellenic Cultural Centre — Windsor, ON

Position Type: Part-Time / Casual
Compensation: $21.50–$23.00 per hour
Schedule: Event-based; evenings, weekends, and holidays required

About the Role

The Hellenic Cultural Centre is seeking an experienced and dependable Banquet Supervisor to oversee the successful execution of weddings, banquets, corporate functions, celebrations, and other special events.

This is a part-time/casual, event-based position with shifts scheduled according to the Centre's event calendar. The Banquet Supervisor will serve as the on-site leader for assigned events, taking responsibility for event execution, staff management, customer service, facility closing, and nightly lockup.

The successful candidate will be an experienced banquet professional who can confidently lead a team, manage client needs, resolve issues independently, and ensure events are executed professionally from setup through closing.

Key Responsibilities

Event Execution

  • Oversee the complete execution of assigned events from setup through closing.
  • Ensure room setup, floor plans, food service, bar service, and event details are executed according to the approved event plan.
  • Act as the primary on-site contact for clients, vendors, entertainers, and event staff.
  • Monitor events and address operational issues as they arise.
  • Maintain established service, safety, and presentation standards.

Staff Leadership & Management

  • Supervise and lead banquet staff during assigned events.
  • Assign staff to appropriate stations and responsibilities.
  • Conduct pre-event staff briefings and communicate event expectations.
  • Monitor staff performance, attendance, breaks, and productivity.
  • Provide direction, coaching, and support to staff.
  • Address staff and operational issues professionally and efficiently.
  • Ensure staff follow Centre policies, health and safety requirements, service standards, and responsible alcohol service practices.

Closing & Nightly Lockup

  • Oversee event teardown and closing procedures.
  • Ensure event spaces, bars, service areas, and common areas are properly cleaned and secured.
  • Complete all nightly lockup procedures.
  • Check designated doors, lights, equipment, and areas before leaving the facility.
  • Ensure the building is fully secured at the end of each shift.
  • Report damage, maintenance issues, safety concerns, or other problems to management.

Required Qualifications — Non-Negotiable

Applicants must meet all of the following requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of banquet supervisor experience.
  • Valid Smart Serve certification — mandatory.
  • Valid Food Handler Certificate — mandatory.
  • Demonstrated experience supervising and managing banquet/event staff.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Strong leadership and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in a fast-paced event environment.
  • Ability to take initiative and make decisions with minimal supervision.

Schedule Requirements — Please Read Carefully

This is a casual, part-time position based on the Centre's event bookings and is not a guaranteed-hours position.

Evening, weekend, and holiday availability is REQUIRED.

Because our events primarily take place outside of traditional business hours, the successful candidate must be available to work evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays as required by the event schedule.

The Banquet Supervisor is expected to remain on-site for the duration of assigned events and is responsible for completing all required closing and nightly lockup procedures.

Applicants who are unable to consistently work evenings, weekends, and holidays will not be considered for this position.

Compensation

$20.00–$23.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.

How to Apply

Please submit a resume outlining your banquet supervision experience and relevant qualifications.

Applicants must provide proof of current Smart Serve certification and Food Handler Certificate.

Applications that do not meet the mandatory qualification requirements will not be considered.
