Craft beer for the misfits and the maladjustedEther is coming to Cashel Street in October 2026! A new craft beer bar and eatery built around the award-winning Thief Brewing range: bold, hoppy beers brewed in the Tai Tapu hills with an unapologetic punch. 

We're looking for a Bar Manager who wants more than a venue to run. This is an opportunity to help build one.

Joining Ether before the doors open, you'll be part of the leadership team from the outset, helping shape the look, feel, culture and guest experience then taking ownership of front-of-house operations once we're up and running. 

The role
This is a hands-on leadership role. You'll be visible on the floor, setting the standard for service, building a great team and creating the kind of atmosphere that keeps people coming back. 

You'll take ownership of front-of-house operations, including staffing and rostering, training and development, POS, stock and cellar management, supplier relationships, bookings and events, cost control and margins. 

Just as importantly, you'll have the freedom to bring ideas to the table and help establish what Ether becomes.

Get in before the doors openYou won't be walking into someone else's operation.

Join us on a paid contract basis during the pre-opening phase and you'll have genuine input into the fitout and operational setup, including the floor plan, POS, menu, suppliers and service approach. 

You'll also have the opportunity to recruit your own front-of-house team and build the culture from day one. 

You'll bring:

• Experience managing a busy bar, restaurant or hospitality venue
• Confident with people leadership and building, training and developing a great team
• Experience managing rosters, stock, costs and operational performance
• Proactive with driving bookings
• The ability to plan and deliver successful functions and events
• A current Manager’s Certificate and LCQ
• Plenty of initiative and a genuine love of hospitality and good beer!
