What they need
About The Butcher’s Dog
The Butcher’s Dog is an independent, family-owned craft beer bar and bottleshop, built around a love of great beer, good pubs and excellent hospitality.
Our bars are relaxed, sociable and welcoming. We care about what we serve, but just as much about how we make people feel.
The Role
As Bar Manager, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day running of the venue, leading a small team and maintaining high standards of service, product and presentation.
This is a hands-on role with a significant amount of independent working. We are looking for someone who will bring energy and ideas to the venue, build strong relationships with customers and the local community, and help develop the bar as a destination in its own right.
A key part of the role will be developing events, bookings and collaborations, and finding ways to keep the venue lively, welcoming and engaging.
You will work closely with the Operations Manager, who oversees consistency, standards and customer service across both Butcher’s Dog venues. The Bar Manager will help shape the character and energy of their venue while working within the wider standards and values of the business.

- Build relationships with regular customers, local businesses, breweries and the wider community.
- Develop and deliver events, collaborations and bookings that suit the venue.
- Bring forward ideas that increase footfall, sales and engagement.
- Help create and maintain the atmosphere and character of the venue.
- Lead the venue’s social media presence and contribute to wider promotional activity.
Stock & Standards
- Manage stock ordering, purchasing, rotation and monthly stock counts.
- Maintain strong supplier relationships and manage wholesale beer purchasing.
- Maintain high standards of cellar management and dispense quality.
- Plan menu updates with the Operations Manager and keep tills, pricing and product information accurate.
- Ensure cash is handled securely and all licensing, health and safety, fire and hygiene requirements are met.
What We’re Looking For
We are looking for an experienced hospitality professional who is confident working independently and enjoys making things happen.
You will be:
- Warm, approachable and naturally good with people.
- Energetic, proactive and self-motivated.
- Confident building relationships with customers, suppliers and colleagues.
- Comfortable making decisions and working independently.
- Organised, commercially aware and attentive to detail.
- A calm and capable leader who leads by example.
- Passionate about hospitality and interested in craft beer.
