About the role

We are seeking an experienced Bar Manager to join our team on a full-time basis. This is a key leadership position within Robbie's Riccarton Sports Bar, based in Christchurch. As Bar Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing daily operations, ensuring excellent customer service standards, managing staff during shifts, and maintaining the highest levels of health, safety and compliance. This role is essential to the smooth running of our establishment and directly impacts the quality of experience we provide to our guests.

What you'll be doing

1. Supervising and managing front-of-house and back-of-house staff during allocated shifts
2. Ensuring all staff adhere to company policies, procedures and health and safety regulations
3. Maintaining high standards of customer service and resolving guest concerns promptly and professionally
4. Managing cash handling, till reconciliation and financial accountability
5. Ensuring compliance with licensing requirements, including responsible service of alcohol (RSA)
6. Opening and closing procedures, including securing premises and setting up for service
7. Training and coaching team members to ensure consistency in service delivery
8. Maintaining cleanliness and presentation standards throughout the venue
9. Managing reservations, seating arrangements and table management
10. Liaising with management regarding performance metrics, staffing needs and operational improvements

What we're looking for

Proven experience in a hospitality management or supervisory role, preferably in a bar, restaurant or sports bar environment

Strong knowledge of responsible service of alcohol & Current NZ Duty Managers Certificate

1. Excellent leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate and develop staff
2. Outstanding customer service skills and the ability to handle challenging situations with professionalism
3. Proficiency in point-of-sale (POS) systems and cash handling
4. Strong organisational and time-management abilities with the capacity to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
5. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
6. Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends and public holidays as required
7. A valid New Zealand driver's Full licence
8. Min 2 years' Experience
9. Gaming Experience / TAB Experience is an advantage, but not essential
