About the Position

Great drinks, welcoming service, and a well-run bar—that’s what we’re looking for.

Joy Drive-In Movie & RV Resort is hiring a hands-on Bar Manager / Bartender for The Velvet Reel Bar & Grill inside The Backlot clubhouse. Our setting brings together drive-in movies, resort guests, special events, and Texas hospitality.

This role combines active bartending with responsibility for inventory, liquor and supply ordering, daily TABC compliance procedures, and bar organization. We’re looking for someone who enjoys serving guests and takes pride in keeping the operation running smoothly.

Compensation

  • $18–$20 per hour in base pay, depending on relevant experience.
  • Candidates with demonstrated bar-management, purchasing, and inventory-control experience will be considered for the upper end of the range.
  • Eligible tips are additional; tip income varies and is not guaranteed.
  • 30 scheduled hours per week, including time for ordering, inventory, and administrative duties.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and serve cocktails, beer, wine, and nonalcoholic beverages using consistent recipes and measured pours.
  • Welcome guests, provide attentive service, and resolve concerns professionally.
  • Oversee daily responsible-service procedures, including ID checks, service limits, incident documentation, and compliance with the venue’s permitted hours and service areas.
  • Track staff TABC seller/server certifications and keep compliance records and required postings organized.
  • Coordinate permit deadlines, renewals, and inspection preparation with ownership.
  • Manage liquor, beer, wine, mixer, garnish, disposable, and cleaning-supply ordering within approved budgets and purchasing procedures.
  • Coordinate with authorized vendors, verify deliveries against orders, document discrepancies, and maintain invoices.
  • Conduct weekly inventory counts, maintain appropriate stock levels, secure alcohol storage, and track waste, breakage, and shortages.
  • Complete opening and closing procedures, including preparation, restocking, cleaning, cash reconciliation, and securing the bar.
  • Operate the POS system accurately and follow approval procedures for refunds, discounts, voids, and complimentary items.
  • Maintain clean, sanitary equipment, glassware, storage, and service areas.
  • Prepare for movie nights and special events in coordination with the resort team.
  • Assist with staff training and shift coordination as staffing grows.
  • Report sales results, purchasing needs, inventory concerns, and guest feedback to resort management.

Qualifications

  • Previous bartending experience required.
  • Bar management or lead bartender experience preferred.
  • Experience with inventory, liquor ordering, vendor coordination, and beverage-cost control.
  • Working knowledge of responsible alcohol service and Texas alcohol-service requirements.
  • Current TABC seller/server certification required before the first alcohol-service shift as a condition of employment.
  • Comfort with POS systems, cash handling, and accurate recordkeeping.
  • Dependability, organization, sound judgment, and the ability to work independently.
  • Availability for evening and weekend shifts.
  • Ability to perform essential bar duties, including standing, cleaning, and moving supplies, with reasonable accommodation.

Why Join Joy?

Help shape The Velvet Reel’s service standards and guest experience in a distinctive resort and entertainment setting. This is an opportunity for someone who enjoys both hospitality and the behind-the-scenes work that makes a bar successful.
