Worplesdon Golf Club is looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Bar Manager to lead our bar team and deliver excellent hospitality to our members and guests.

Set in beautiful Surrey heathland, Worplesdon is a prestigious private members' Club with a proud history, a welcoming atmosphere and a busy calendar of golf and social events.

We are looking for a hands-on manager who enjoys working with people, takes pride in high standards, and creates a friendly, professional environment for members and colleagues.

This is an opportunity to take ownership of a well-established bar operation, develop a small team and make a genuine contribution to the Club.

Responsibilities

• Lead, train and support the bar team to deliver consistently excellent service.
• Build positive relationships with members and guests, creating a welcoming and familiar atmosphere.
• Oversee daily bar operations, maintaining high standards of service, presentation and cleanliness.
• Manage staff rotas, working hours and labour costs.
• Take responsibility for stock control, ordering, cellar management and supplier relationships.
• Monitor bar performance, stock levels, wastage and profitability.
• Work closely with the kitchen and clubhouse teams to support golf days, functions and social events.
• Contribute ideas to improve the drinks offering and overall member experience.
• Ensure compliance with licensing, food safety and health and safety requirements.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential:

• Previous experience in bar supervision or hospitality management.
• Strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate and develop a team.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Good knowledge of bar operations, stock management and beverage service.
• A practical, organised and hands-on approach.
• Flexibility to work weekends and some evenings.

Desirable:

• Experience in a private members' Club, golf club, hotel or quality hospitality venue.
• Experience managing budgets and monitoring profitability.
• Personal Licence holder.
• Wine, beer and spirits knowledge or relevant professional qualifications.

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: £34,000 to £36,000 per year

Expected Hours: This is a full-time position of 40 hours per week, with shifts rostered across seven days, including some evening and weekend work.

Work Location: In person

Schedule: 40 hours per week, worked across a seven-day operation, including weekends and some evenings.
