Bar Manager

The Harvard Inn, Stock, Essex is a hotel, restaurant and wine bar, specialising in quality, locally sourced, freshly prepared and cooked food to a high standard.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, experienced and motivated Bar Manager to lead our team and oversee the day-to-day running of our bar. The successful candidate will have a passion for customer service, excellent leadership skills and the ability to create a welcoming and enjoyable atmosphere for our customers.

As Bar Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the bar, maintaining high standards of service, managing staff and helping to drive the success of the business. Weekly working hours required are between 20-35 hours.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the daily operation of the bar, ensuring high standards of service and presentation.
• Lead, motivate and manage the team
• Deliver excellent customer service and ensure customers have a positive experience.
• Manage stock control, ordering, deliveries and stock rotation.
• Monitor sales, cash handling and daily takings accurately.
• Maintain cleanliness and ensure the bar is presented to a high standard at all times.
• Manage customer enquiries, feedback and complaints professionally.
• Help organise promotions, events and activities to increase trade and encourage repeat business.
• Work closely with the wider management team to achieve business targets and maintain profitability.

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

• Previous experience in a bar management or supervisory role.
• Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills.
• A friendly, approachable personality and a passion for customer service.
• Good commercial awareness and an understanding of stock control and cost management.
• The ability to work well under pressure and manage competing priorities.
• A flexible approach to working hours, including evenings, weekends and bank holidays.

Pay: £15.00-£16.00 per hour
