The Red Boats are looking for a Casual Bar Manager to join our onboard hospitality team for the busy summer season.

If you're looking for something a little different from working in a traditional bar, this is it! You'll work onboard our Auckland Harbour cruises, parties, private charters and events, taking responsibility for the onboard bar and helping deliver an excellent experience for our passengers.

We're looking for confident, reliable and experienced hospitality professionals who can independently manage a busy bar, provide outstanding customer service and work as part of our onboard marine and hospitality team.

About the Role

As an onboard Bar Manager, you'll be responsible for the day to day operation of the vessel's bar during cruises and events, ensuring efficient service, responsible alcohol management and a welcoming atmosphere for passengers.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Setting up and preparing the onboard bar before cruises
• Managing bar operations during cruises, private charters and events
• Serving beer, wine, Rtd's and other beverages
• Ensuring responsible service of alcohol and compliance with liquor licensing requirements
• Operating POS systems and handling payments
• Managing cash handling and end of shift reconciliations
• Monitoring stock levels, restocking and reporting shortages
• Maintaining a clean, organised and well presented bar
• Providing friendly, professional and efficient customer service
• Welcoming passengers and assisting with boarding and disembarking
• Preparing and resetting the vessel between cruises
• Supervising and supporting other bar staff when required
• Assisting the skipper and onboard crew with general vessel duties when required
• Following company safety procedures and onboard operational requirements

About You

We're looking for someone who:

• Has previous experience in bar management or hospitality role
• Is confident managing a busy bar independently
• Has excellent customer service and communication skills
• Understands responsible service of alcohol requirements
• Is reliable, punctual and able to take initiative
• Can remain organised and professional during busy services
• Is comfortable handling payments, stock and bar operations
• Is friendly, outgoing and well presented
• Enjoys working in a team and is willing to assist with other onboard duties
• Is comfortable working onboard boats
• Has flexibility to work evenings, weekends and public holidays

A Current New Zealand Manager's Certificate and/or Licence Controller Qualification (LCQ) is highly desirable, Previous experience working onboard vessels is not required, as training will be provided.

Availability

This is a Casual position, with shifts based around our cruise and charter schedule.

Our busiest periods include evenings, weekends, Christmas functions, summer holidays and public holidays.

We're particularly interested in applicants who have good availability during these periods and can work across a variety of cruises and events.
