Bar Staff

We’re on the lookout for brilliant people to join our front of house team at The Ship Inn – not just order-takers, but proper hosts who can read a room, take initiative, and make every guest feel welcome from the moment they walk in.

About Us

We’re a busy, independent pub in the heart of Oundle serving fresh food, great drinks, and a warm, relaxed atmosphere. We pride ourselves on friendly, genuine service – no scripts, no stiffness, just great hospitality done right.

What We’re Looking For

This isn’t just about pulling pints or carrying plates – we want people who:

• Take initiative – if something needs doing, you don’t wait to be told
• Are naturally friendly and confident with people
• Are proactive – spotting when a table needs clearing, drinks need topping up, or a guest needs help
• Thrive in a busy environment and keep a cool head under pressure
• Care about the little details that turn a good visit into a great one

Experience is great, but attitude is everything – we can teach skills, we can’t teach personality.

The Role

• Welcoming and looking after guests with genuine warmth
• Taking orders, serving food and drinks, and keeping service flowing smoothly
• Anticipating customer needs before they have to ask
• Keeping the pub looking its best at all times
• Working as part of a close, supportive team

Why Join Us?

• A fun, fast-paced working environment
• A team that genuinely has each other’s backs
• Flexible hours to suit you
• Staff perks and discounts
• The chance to be part of a pub people love coming back to

If you’re the kind of person who notices everything, chats to anyone, and takes pride in doing a great job without being asked… we want you.
