Location: Wickham Bishops, EssexPay: £10.85 - £13.50 per hour, depending on experience.

Job Overview

We’re looking for a friendly, enthusiastic and experienced Bar Supervisor / Server to join our growing team at The Bear at Wickham Bishops.

We’re an independent, family-run village pub and restaurant, passionate about great hospitality, quality food and drinks, and making everyone who walks through our doors feel welcome.

We’re looking for someone who can lead by example, support our team and help ensure our guests enjoy a fantastic experience every time they visit.

This is a hands-on role, combining bar and restaurant service with supervisory responsibilities. You’ll be just as happy serving customers and making drinks as you are helping to organise a busy shift.

Key Responsibilities

● Providing warm, friendly and professional customer service.

● Serving drinks, taking food orders and delivering excellent table service.

● Supporting and supervising the bar and front-of-house team.

● Helping manage busy shifts and ensuring smooth daily operations.

● Opening and closing the premises when required.

● Maintaining high standards of cleanliness, presentation and service.

● Handling customer enquiries and resolving issues professionally.

● Supporting stock control and general bar operations.

● Ensuring responsible alcohol service and compliance with licensing requirements.

What We’re Looking For

● Previous experience in a pub, bar or restaurant.

● Some supervisory or team-leading experience preferred. Not essential as you will be working with a great team.

● A confident, approachable and positive personality.

● Excellent communication and customer service skills.

● Someone reliable, organised and able to use their initiative.

● Ability to remain calm and professional during busy periods.

● Flexibility to work evenings and weekends.
