Position Summary

Sinatra Bar & Lounge is seeking a hardworking, dependable, and detail-oriented Barback to support our bartending team in delivering an exceptional guest experience.

Located in the heart of downtown Nashville, Sinatra Bar & Lounge offers a sophisticated dining and cocktail experience inspired by the timeless elegance, style, and hospitality of Frank Sinatra.

The Barback plays an essential role in maintaining the efficiency, cleanliness, organization, and overall presentation of the bar. This position requires a strong sense of urgency, teamwork, and attention to detail in a fast-paced, upscale hospitality environment.

The ideal candidate takes pride in working behind the scenes, anticipates the needs of bartenders, and understands that exceptional service begins with preparation and execution.

Key Responsibilities

Bar Setup & Preparation

• Prepare and fully stock bar stations before each shift, ensuring bartenders have everything needed for efficient service.
• Stock liquor, wine, beer, mixers, juices, syrups, garnishes, and other bar supplies.
• Prepare fresh garnishes, including cutting citrus, organizing herbs, and preparing specialty cocktail ingredients according to established standards.
• Fill and maintain ice bins throughout service.
• Ensure all glassware, bar tools, cocktail napkins, straws, and other supplies are stocked and readily available.
• Assist with opening and closing procedures, following established checklists.

Service Support

• Continuously monitor bartender needs and proactively replenish supplies without disrupting service.
• Maintain clean, organized, and fully operational bar stations throughout each shift.
• Collect, wash, polish, and restock glassware promptly.
• Remove empty bottles, trash, and used glassware from bar stations.
• Replace beer kegs, replenish bottled beverages, and assist with maintaining draft systems as directed.
• Assist bartenders during high-volume periods to ensure smooth and timely beverage service.
• Communicate immediately with bartenders and management regarding low-stock or unavailable products.
• Support the service team as needed while maintaining bar responsibilities as the primary focus.

Cleanliness & Sanitation

• Maintain exceptional cleanliness and organization behind the bar throughout service.
• Clean and sanitize bar counters, equipment, sinks, storage areas, and workstations.
• Follow all food safety, sanitation, and responsible alcohol service standards.
• Properly store and label garnishes, juices, syrups, and other perishable ingredients.
• Maintain clean floors, drains, refrigeration units, and designated bar storage areas.
• Remove trash, replace liners, and maintain designated waste and recycling areas.
• Complete all assigned opening, shift-change, and closing cleaning duties.
• Ensure bar areas consistently meet company standards and health inspection requirements.

Inventory & Organization

• Receive, unpack, and properly store beverage deliveries as directed.
• Rotate inventory using first-in, first-out (FIFO) procedures.
• Maintain organized liquor, wine, beer, and supply storage areas.
• Assist management with beverage inventory counts and stock organization.
• Report damaged products, excessive waste, breakage, and inventory discrepancies.
• Handle all premium spirits, wines, glassware, and bar equipment with care.

Teamwork & Professionalism

• Work collaboratively with bartenders, servers, server assistants, and management.
• Demonstrate a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to assist wherever needed.
• Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to Sinatra Bar & Lounge uniform and grooming standards.
• Follow management direction and communicate effectively throughout service.
• Maintain discretion and professionalism when working around guests.
• Arrive on time, prepared to work, and ready to contribute to a successful shift.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Previous barback, restaurant, or hospitality experience preferred; upscale or high-volume bar experience is a plus.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining high standards.
• Ability to anticipate needs and complete tasks with minimal supervision.
• Dependable attendance, punctuality, and a strong sense of personal accountability.
• Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with coworkers and management.
• Basic knowledge of spirits, wine, beer, and cocktail preparation is beneficial.
• Willingness to learn and grow within the hospitality industry.
• Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and other shifts based on business needs.
• Must meet applicable age and legal requirements for assigned duties.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to bend, reach, squat, and perform repetitive physical tasks.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with exposure to wet floors, glassware, and commercial bar equipment.
• Ability to safely transport cases of beverages, ice, kegs, and other bar supplies.
