Job Overview

The Headless Widow, a stylish and lively cocktail bar in the heart of NYC's East Village, is looking for a hardworking, reliable, and motivated Barback to join our team!

We are seeking someone who is energetic, organized, and thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. The ideal candidate understands the importance of supporting bartenders, maintaining a clean and fully stocked bar, and helping ensure smooth and efficient service throughout each shift.

This is a hands-on position that requires a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to anticipate the needs of the bar team without constant supervision.

Responsibilities

• Assist bartenders with daily operations to ensure fast, efficient, and organized bar service.
• Continuously restock liquor, beer, wine, mixers, garnishes, glassware, ice, and other bar supplies.
• Keep ice bins filled and ensure bartenders have everything needed during service.
• Wash, polish, and organize glassware, bar tools, and equipment.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization behind the bar, including countertops, sinks, coolers, and storage areas.
• Remove empty bottles, trash, and recycling throughout each shift.
• Prepare garnishes, fresh juices, syrups, and other cocktail ingredients according to house standards.
• Assist with receiving, organizing, and storing liquor and supply deliveries.
• Monitor inventory levels and communicate restocking needs to bartenders and management.
• Assist with opening and closing duties, including setting up and breaking down the bar.
• Support bartenders and servers during busy periods and special events.
• Follow all food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety procedures.

Qualifications & Experience

• Previous barback, restaurant, or hospitality experience required.
• Experience working in a busy cocktail bar, restaurant, or nightlife establishment is a plus.
• Ability to work quickly, efficiently, and independently in a high-volume environment.
• Must be dependable, punctual, hardworking, and detail-oriented.
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
• Ability to follow directions and anticipate the needs of bartenders.
• Must be comfortable standing for extended periods and performing physically demanding tasks.
• Ability to lift and carry cases of beverages, ice buckets, and other bar supplies.
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
• Willingness to learn about spirits, cocktail preparation, and bar operations.
• Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
