About the role

Are you an experienced barista who cares deeply about coffee, hospitality, and doing things properly? If you’re confident behind the bar, genuinely enjoy connecting with people, and want to be part of an independent specialty coffee company with high standards and a friendly culture, we’d love to hear from you.

Ideally you will have these qualities:

• Proven cafe experience

• Strong customer connection skills — you know how to read people and make their day better

• Knowledge of espresso extraction and brewing methods at a specialty coffee level

• The ability to maintain consistency under pressure while keeping quality high

• A collaborative spirit and clear communication with teammates

• Hardworking, reliable

• Able to take on all round responsibilities that are involved in running a successful cafe smoothly

• Initiative and problem-solving skills — we value people who think, and not afraid to speak your ideas

• Confidence with high-end commercial equipment — and the ability to troubleshoot when things go wrong

About us

100% independent in ownership and outlook, Detour has been part of Hong Kong’s specialty coffee community since 2017. We roast our own coffee in Sai Ying Pun and serve it with the same care we bring to every part of the guest experience. Alongside coffee, we offer simple, high-quality food with an emphasis on provenance.
