Barista

Job Overview
We are seeking a passionate and customer-oriented Barista to join our team. As a Barista, you will be responsible for creating a welcoming atmosphere for our customers while expertly preparing and serving high-quality beverages and food items. Your role will involve utilizing your knowledge of coffee and food service to ensure an exceptional experience for every guest.

Additional Details:

This position is part-time, full time, weekend rotation needed, holidays needed.

Wages starts at $11 an hour plus tips. (tips average between $2-$8 an hour depending on shift and crowd)

Duties

• Prepare and serve a variety of coffee beverages, teas, and food items according to established recipes and standards.
• Operate the Aloha POS or Micros POS systems efficiently for order processing and payment handling.
• Provide outstanding customer service by engaging with customers, taking orders accurately, and addressing any inquiries or concerns.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the café area, ensuring compliance with food safety and hygiene standards.
• Assist in food preparation, including baking pastries or preparing light meals as needed.
• Handle cash transactions responsibly, ensuring accurate cash handling and basic math calculations during sales.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth operations during peak hours while managing time effectively.
• Stay knowledgeable about menu items, including seasonal offerings, to enhance sales opportunities and customer satisfaction.

Requirements

• Previous barista or coffee experience is preferred but not mandatory; training will be provided.
• Strong customer service skills with the ability to create a friendly environment for patrons.
• Familiarity with POS systems such as Aloha or Micros is a plus.
• Excellent time management skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Basic math skills for accurate cash handling and retail math calculations.
• Knowledge of food safety practices and food handling regulations is essential.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented setting while also being self-motivated when needed.
