Part-Time Barista – Altar Coffee

Altar Coffee is looking for an experienced, reliable Part-Time Barista to join our team in Downtown Long Beach.

This position is 2–3 days per week and is best suited for someone who already has barista experience and is comfortable working independently. This can be a largely unsupervised position, so we are looking for someone who is self-motivated, responsible, and knows how to stay productive during slower periods.

Applicants must be 21 or older, as our café also serves beer and wine and this position may occasionally involve alcohol service.

• Previous barista experience required
• Must be 21+
• Available 2–3 days per week
• Reliable and punctual
• Friendly, welcoming, and comfortable interacting with guests
• Able to work independently with minimal supervision
• Self-motivated and able to stay busy without being directed
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
• Strong attention to cleanliness and organization
• Able to move between coffee service, food service, cleaning, stocking, and general café responsibilities

Responsibilities

• Prepare espresso drinks, coffee, tea, and other café beverages consistently and efficiently
• Provide friendly and knowledgeable customer service
• Take orders and process transactions through the POS system
• Serve beer and wine when needed
• Maintain a clean and organized café throughout the entire shift
• Restock cups, milk, coffee, food, paper goods, and other supplies
• Keep counters, equipment, service areas, and guest areas clean
• Complete opening, closing, and daily cleaning responsibilities
• Assist with light food preparation and service as needed
• Monitor the café and take initiative when something needs to be cleaned, stocked, organized, or handled
• Maintain food safety and sanitation standards at all times

The Right Person

We are not looking for someone who needs to be constantly given a task. When business slows down, there is always something that can be cleaned, stocked, organized, or prepared.

The right person takes ownership of the café while they are working. You should be comfortable making decisions, managing your time, keeping the space looking great, and providing a welcoming experience for every guest.

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
