Barista

We are looking for an experienced, friendly, and customer-focused Barista to join our team. In this role, you will prepare and serve high-quality coffee, tea, espresso beverages, and other specialty drinks while delivering exceptional customer service. You will educate customers about our menu, make recommendations based on their preferences, promote featured items, and ensure every guest enjoys a welcoming café experience.

The ideal candidate has a passion for coffee, excellent communication skills, and experience operating commercial espresso and brewing equipment. You should be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and be available to work flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays.

Note: Compensation includes hourly pay plus tips.

Responsibilities

• Welcome customers with a friendly and positive attitude.
• Present the beverage and food menu, answer questions, and make personalized recommendations.
• Accurately take customer orders, including beverage customizations and dietary preferences.
• Prepare espresso-based drinks, brewed coffee, tea, and other beverages according to company recipes and quality standards.
• Serve beverages and food items such as pastries, cookies, muffins, and other café offerings.
• Operate the point-of-sale (POS) system and accurately process cash, credit card, and digital payments.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked bar and customer service area.
• Monitor inventory levels of coffee, milk, syrups, cups, and other supplies; notify management when replenishment is needed.
• Clean and maintain espresso machines, grinders, brewing equipment, and other café equipment, reporting any maintenance issues promptly.
• Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health regulations.
• Work collaboratively with team members to ensure efficient service during busy periods.
• Share customer feedback with management and suggest opportunities to improve the menu and guest experience.

Qualifications & Skills

• Minimum 2 years of barista experience in a coffee shop or café.
• Hands-on experience operating commercial espresso machines, grinders, and brewing equipment.
• Strong understanding of coffee preparation techniques, beverage recipes, and milk steaming.
• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations.
• Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
• Basic math skills and cash-handling experience.
• Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Flexibility to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• High school diploma or equivalent; barista or hospitality training is a plus.
