Job Description

We are seeking an enthusiastic and customer-focused Barista to join our dynamic team in Boston Scientific, Galway, Ireland. In this role, you will be the heart of our coffee bar operation, creating exceptional beverages and memorable experiences for our customers. As a Barista, you will combine technical skill with genuine hospitality, working collaboratively with your team to maintain a welcoming and efficient service environment. This position offers an excellent opportunity to develop your expertise in specialty coffee preparation while delivering outstanding customer service in a fast-paced, supportive setting.

• Prepare and serve a variety of hot and cold beverages, including espresso-based drinks, teas, and specialty coffee creations, consistently meeting quality standards
• Deliver exceptional customer service by greeting customers warmly, taking orders accurately, and addressing customer needs with empathy and professionalism
• Operate point-of-sale (POS) systems and payment processing equipment with accuracy and efficiency, handling cash transactions with precision
• Maintain meticulous cleanliness and organization of the coffee bar, including equipment sanitization, stock rotation, and attractive product displays
• Restock supplies and ingredients proactively, ensuring the bar is always well-prepared for service periods
• Demonstrate strong attention to detail in beverage preparation, ensuring consistency and presentation excellence
• Support food service and light food preparation tasks as required by the operation
• Adhere to all food safety, health and safety regulations, and company procedures at all times
• Collaborate effectively with team members during peak periods, prioritizing tasks and supporting colleagues to maintain smooth service flow
• Resolve customer concerns and complaints with professionalism and empathy, escalating issues when necessary
• Contribute to a positive, inclusive team environment through reliable performance and a flexible, can-do attitude
• Work varied shifts, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends, as required by operational needs

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a barista, in hospitality, retail, or customer service roles is desirable but not essential
• Demonstrated passion for delivering outstanding customer service and creating positive customer interactions
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively with diverse customers
• Friendly, professional, and approachable demeanor with genuine enthusiasm for the role
• Ability to work efficiently and multitask effectively in a busy, fast-paced environment
• Excellent attention to detail with a commitment to quality in beverage preparation and presentation
• Reliable, flexible, and adaptable attitude with willingness to learn and develop new skills
• Knowledge of coffee preparation techniques, beverage varieties, and specialty drink creation is a plus
• Proficiency with point-of-sale (POS) systems and cash handling experience preferred
• Basic understanding of food safety and hygiene standards
• Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks
• Strong team player mentality with the ability to collaborate and support colleagues
• Organized approach to work with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously
• Ability to maintain composure and professionalism under pressure during peak service periods
• Basic math skills for accurate transaction processing and cash reconciliation
• Willingness to work varied shifts, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends
