Barista

Barista – Mescalito Coffee (Full Time only!!)

Job Summary

Join our team as a Barista at Mescalito Coffee in downtown Brenham. We roast our own beans and take the craft seriously, in a shop that stays friendly and unpretentious. In this role you'll craft espresso drinks and brewed coffee, serve food and drinks, and create a good experience for every guest. Your interest in coffee, your care for customers, and your ability to keep your head in a rush will drive the success of the shop.

Duties

• Prepare and serve espresso drinks, drip and pourover coffee, tea, and specialty beverages to our recipes
• Handle sales transactions on our Toast POS, with accurate cash handling and payment processing
• Keep the bar, equipment, counters, and dining area clean and organized to food safety standards
• Help customers with menu questions, ingredients, and drink options
• Follow proper food handling and beverage service procedures
• Work efficiently through busy periods without cutting quality
• Restock supplies, prep ingredients, and help with food prep as needed
• Open or close the shop on your scheduled shifts

What We're Looking For

• Reliability first: showing up on time for your shifts matters more to us than anything on this list
• A friendly attitude and genuine care for customers
• Interest in coffee. Prior barista or food service experience is a plus, but we'll train the right person
• Comfort with a POS, cash handling, and basic math
• Food handler card, or willingness to get one
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced setting
