Barista Shift Leader

Duties

• Lead and motivate a team of baristas during assigned shifts, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction and operational efficiency
• Prepare a variety of non-alcoholic beverages, including specialty coffees, teas, and other drink service items with precision and consistency
• Oversee retail sales transactions using POS systems such as Aloha POS and Micros POS, processing cash, credit card, and mobile payments accurately
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the café area, including food handling stations, beverage prep zones, and customer seating areas
• Ensure food safety standards are met by adhering to proper food handling procedures and sanitation protocols
• Manage cash handling responsibilities by processing cash transactions accurately and balancing registers at shift end
• Support team development through coaching on beverage preparation, customer service techniques, time management, and food industry best practices

Experience

• Previous barista experience with a strong understanding of coffee preparation and beverage service techniques
• Proven leadership experience in a café or food service environment, demonstrating the ability to manage a team effectively during busy periods
• Familiarity with POS systems such as Aloha POS or Micros POS for sales processing and transaction management
• Knowledge of food safety standards and proper food handling procedures in a retail or café setting
• Excellent customer service skills with the ability to engage positively with diverse customers
• Strong math skills for cash handling, processing transactions accurately, and managing register balances
• Ability to multitask efficiently while maintaining attention to detail in fast-paced environments
• Time management skills to prioritize tasks during shifts and ensure smooth operations
