Barista / Supervisor – Wilma's Bakery

We're looking for an enthusiastic, experienced and hands-on Barista / Supervisor to join our team at Wilma's Bakery!

We're a child-friendly, dog-friendly, cake-loving independent bakery and coffee shop, passionate about great products, brilliant customer service and creating a welcoming atmosphere.

We're looking for someone who can do more than make a great coffee. We need someone who can confidently lead a shift, support the Shop Manager and take responsibility for maintaining our standards, team performance and customer experience.

You'll need to be organised, proactive, enthusiastic and comfortable working in a busy environment where no two days are quite the same!

Your Responsibilities

As Barista / Supervisor, you'll play an important role in the successful day-to-day running of the shop, including:

• Shift Leadership: Taking responsibility for the smooth running of shifts, ensuring the team works efficiently, tasks are completed and Wilma's standards are consistently maintained.
• Team Support & Development: Leading by example, supporting the training of colleagues, delegating tasks and providing guidance and feedback to maintain a positive, productive team.
• Barista & Product Quality: Preparing excellent coffees, hot and iced drinks, milkshakes and other menu items, ensuring quality, consistency and presentation meet our standards.
• Customer Experience: Delivering friendly, attentive and efficient service, creating a welcoming atmosphere and confidently resolving customer queries or complaints.
• Daily Operations: Supporting opening and closing procedures, cash handling, daily checks and ensuring operational tasks are completed accurately and on time.
• Stock & Ordering: Monitoring stock levels, completing stock checks, placing orders where required and helping minimise waste.
• Product & Brand Standards: Maintaining excellent presentation and product knowledge, including taking detailed celebration cake orders and carefully handling customer collections.
• Compliance & Cleanliness: Ensuring food safety, allergen, hygiene, health and safety, cleaning and company procedures are followed consistently by the team.
• Problem Solving & Initiative: Identifying issues, taking appropriate action and communicating effectively with the Shop Manager rather than waiting to be told what needs doing.
• Hands-On Teamwork: Supporting every aspect of service, from making coffees and preparing food to serving customers, clearing tables and keeping the shop immaculate.

You'll be expected to take ownership of your shifts, communicate clearly with management and ensure the shop continues to operate to a high standard, even during the busiest periods.

What We're Looking For

• Previous experience as a Barista, Supervisor or Team Leader within hospitality, a coffee shop or another busy customer-facing environment.
• Confidence in leading a team, delegating tasks and maintaining high standards.
• Excellent customer service skills and a friendly, approachable personality.
• The ability to stay organised, work efficiently and make sensible decisions under pressure.
• A proactive attitude, strong initiative and a willingness to take responsibility.
• Excellent attention to detail, particularly when it comes to product quality, cleanliness and customer orders.
• Good communication, literacy and numeracy skills.
• Experience preparing barista-quality coffee is highly desirable.
• A willingness to learn our products, processes and procedures, including becoming a cake connoisseur!
• Full flexibility to work across our seven-day trading week, including weekends. Weekend availability is an essential requirement of this role.

This is a hands-on supervisory position with real responsibility. We're looking for someone who takes pride in their work, supports their colleagues and has the confidence to take charge when needed.

You may occasionally be required to support our other locations.
