Bartender / Server — Dual-Role Position

About the Role

Jazz Forum Arts is a dedicated jazz club open Friday and Saturday nights, bringing world-class live jazz to the Hudson Valley. We're looking for a skilled, adaptable hospitality professional who is equally at home behind the stick or on the floor — and who understands that great service is part of the performance.

This is a dual-role position. Depending on the night and the show, you may be scheduled as the bartender, as a server working the room, or both over the course of a weekend. We need someone who can shift between those responsibilities without missing a beat.

What You'll Do

• Work weekend shifts (Fridays and/or Saturdays) as bartender, server, or a combination of both

• Craft classic cocktails and serve wine, beer, and non-alcoholic beverages with confidence and care

• Take food and drink orders from guests seated at tables during live performances

• Maintain a calm, attentive presence on the floor — mindful of the music and respectful of the listening experience

• Set up and break down the bar and dining floor before and after each show

• Handle payment processing accurately and efficiently

• Work closely with a small, tight-knit team to ensure every guest feels welcome

Cocktail Knowledge

Applicants must be well-versed in classic cocktail technique. Confidence with the following is expected:

Negroni

Old Fashioned

Martini

Manhattan

Aperol Spritz

Whiskey Sour

Daiquiri

French 75

…and the broader canon of classic cocktails. Flair and speed matter, but accuracy and consistency matter more.

What We're Looking For

Weekend availability — Fridays and Saturdays

Bartending and table service experience

Comfortable in both bar and floor roles

Strong knowledge of classic cocktails

Reliable, punctual, and a team player

Calm under pressure during busy shows

Respect for a live music environment

Valid NY alcohol service certification (or willingness to obtain)

Compensation

Competitive hourly wage plus tips. Pay commensurate with experience. Details discussed at interview.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $12.00 - $14.00 per hour
