Bartender

Position Summary

El Tiempo Cantina Galveston is seeking energetic, experienced, and hospitality-driven Bartenders to join our Front of House team.

Our margaritas are one of the signatures of the El Tiempo Cantina experience, and our Bartenders play an important role in protecting that reputation. The ideal bartender understands that every margarita leaving the bar should be prepared with consistency, speed, proper presentation, and attention to detail.

In addition to producing high-quality cocktails, Bartenders are responsible for providing excellent hospitality to bar guests and supporting beverage service throughout the restaurant.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare El Tiempo margaritas and other cocktails according to established recipes, portions, and presentation standards.
• Maintain exceptional consistency in margarita flavor, strength, temperature, and presentation.
• Produce beverages quickly and accurately during high-volume service without sacrificing quality.
• Become knowledgeable about El Tiempo's margarita selections, tequilas, spirits, beer, wine, and other beverages.
• Help guests select margaritas, tequila, and other beverages based on their preferences.
• Provide friendly, attentive, and engaging service to guests seated at the bar.
• Accurately enter beverage and food orders into the POS system.
• Prepare service-bar drinks promptly for Servers throughout the restaurant.
• Monitor guests' alcohol consumption and practice responsible alcohol service at all times.
• Verify identification and follow all applicable Texas alcohol-service requirements.
• Properly measure and portion liquor according to company standards.
• Follow procedures designed to control liquor costs, waste, spills, and over-pouring.
• Maintain a clean, stocked, organized, and guest-ready bar throughout the shift.
• Properly stock tequila, liquor, beer, wine, mixers, glassware, garnishes, ice, and other bar supplies.
• Complete assigned opening, running, and closing duties.
• Handle guest payments and cash accurately.
• Communicate effectively with Servers, Hosts, Bussers, Kitchen staff, and Management.
• Support fellow Bartenders and other team members during high-volume periods.
• Follow all food safety, sanitation, alcohol-service, and company policies.

Margarita & Beverage Standards

Margaritas are a major part of the El Tiempo Cantina experience. Bartenders are expected to take pride in every margarita they prepare.

Bartenders must consistently follow established recipes and specifications. Free-pouring, over-pouring, unnecessary waste, or changing established recipes is not acceptable.

Every margarita should represent the El Tiempo name — whether it is the first drink of the afternoon or the hundredth drink of a busy Saturday night.

Qualifications

• Previous bartending experience strongly preferred.
• High-volume restaurant or bar experience preferred.
• Strong cocktail and beverage knowledge.
• Tequila knowledge is a plus.
• Ability to learn and consistently reproduce El Tiempo margarita recipes and beverage standards.
• Excellent guest-service and communication skills.
• Ability to work quickly and remain organized under pressure.
• Strong attention to detail and portion control.
• Dependable, punctual, and team-oriented.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and safely lift and move bar supplies.
• Must meet applicable Texas requirements for serving alcoholic beverages.
• Flexible availability, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

We are looking for Bartenders who combine personality and hospitality with discipline behind the bar. A great El Tiempo Bartender can connect with guests, work with urgency, maintain a clean and organized station, control their pours, and produce the same great margarita every time.

Pay: $6.00 per hour

Expected hours: 32.0 – 40.0 per week
