Bartender — Sonny's Aksarben & Backstretch Bar (Seasonal)

Pay: $6/hour base plus tips. Our bartenders typically take home $28+/hour all-in, and more on busy patio nights and event days. We take a tip credit against Nebraska minimum wage and make up the difference on any shift where base plus tips falls short.

Overview

Sonny's Aksarben and Backstretch Bar are looking for an energetic, personable bartender to round out our team through the end of October. You'll work both bars: Sonny's, our outdoor patio bar where the weather sets the pace, and Backstretch Bar, Stall L inside the Inner Rail Food Hall. Two very different rooms, one team.

This is a paid seasonal position running through October 31. Strong performers may be offered the chance to stay on past the season, and anyone who finishes the season in good standing gets first crack at coming back next year before we open the role up.

What you'll do

• Prepare and serve cocktails, beer, wine, and non-alcoholic drinks to spec, with room to put your own touch on things
• Read the guest and make the recommendation — the right beer, the right cocktail, the right thing to pair with what they just ordered from the food hall
• Ring in orders and handle cash accurately on Toast (full training provided if you haven't used it)
• Keep the bar clean, stocked, and organized to health-code standard, including garnishes, glassware, and back-bar par levels
• Restock and reset through the shift so service never slows down at the well
• Contribute to menu development — new builds, tweaks to existing drinks, and ideas that use what we already carry
• Help track inventory, flag what's running low, and communicate ordering needs before they become shortages
• Check IDs and serve responsibly, every time, no exceptions

What we're looking for

• Solid working knowledge of spirits, wine, craft beer, and cocktail technique
• Comfort on a POS system; Toast experience is a plus but not required
• The ability to hold a rail on a packed patio night without losing your accuracy or your attitude
• Genuine hospitality — friendly, quick, and glad to be there
• Previous bar experience in high-volume, food hall, event, or patio settings
• Multitasking without dropping the details, including food handling and safety basics
• Basic math for cash handling, tabs, and counts
• Familiarity with how a bar fits into a broader food and beverage operation

Pay: From $6.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 15.0 per week
