Overview

The Grapes is a historic, independent city-centre pub in the heart of Oxford, known for its excellent selection of over 40 beers & ciders in addition to wines and spirits, freshly prepared food and friendly atmosphere.

We’re looking for enthusiastic, friendly and hardworking people to join our team and help us deliver a great experience to every customer.

Responsibilities

• Welcoming customers and providing friendly, attentive service.
• Taking customer orders and serving food and drinks efficiently.
• Preparing and serving a wide range of beers, ciders, wines, spirits and soft drinks.
• Developing knowledge of our drinks selection and being able to make recommendations to customers.
• Ensuring drinks are presented to a consistently high standard.
• Taking care of tables, clearing and resetting them promptly.
• Maintaining high standards of cleanliness throughout the bar and customer areas.
• Following food safety, hygiene, licensing and health & safety procedures.
• Handling customer queries professionally and resolving issues where appropriate.
• Helping with opening and closing duties.
• Working as part of a close-knit team during busy evenings, weekends and events.

• Has a friendly, positive and approachable personality.
• Enjoys working with people and providing great customer service.
• Is reliable, punctual and hardworking.
• Can remain calm and organised during busy services.
• Works well as part of a team.
• Has good attention to detail.
• Is willing to learn about beer, cider, wine, spirits and food.
• Is flexible and available to work evenings and weekends.
• Has previous pub, bar or hospitality experience — desirable but not essential, as full training can be provided.

Pay: From £12.71 per hour

Expected hours: 20.0 – 40.0 per week
