What they need

Casa Cosecha is a café, bar, market, and community gathering space in Breñas, Vega Alta, Puerto Rico. We’re building something warm, social, and distinctly our own—a place where someone might start the day with coffee, stop in for local products, and come back later for a cocktail, wine, and conversation.

We are seeking an energetic, personable, and responsible Bartender to join the Casa Cosecha team. Our bartenders are a major part of the guest experience. We want someone who can make an excellent drink, read a room, remember a regular, keep service moving, and make people feel genuinely welcome.

Casa Cosecha has its own rhythm, and we let the experience speak for itself.

The right person is friendly and engaging while also understanding that hospitality comes with responsibility. Our standards around alcohol service, cleanliness, closing procedures, and guest safety are taken seriously.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and serve cocktails, wine, beer, spirits, and non-alcoholic beverages consistently and with strong presentation.
  • Welcome guests warmly, learn their preferences, and make thoughtful drink or menu recommendations.
  • Maintain an organized, clean, stocked, and service-ready bar throughout the shift.
  • Operate the POS system confidently and accurately, including opening/closing checks, payments, tabs, cash, and card transactions.
  • Monitor inventory during service, restock as necessary, and communicate shortages or inventory issues before they become problems.
  • Understand Casa Cosecha's cocktail recipes, wines, beers, ingredients, pricing, and service standards.
  • Help develop cocktails, specials, pairings, and ideas that fit the Casa Cosecha experience.
  • Follow food-safety, sanitation, and responsible alcohol-service procedures.
  • Be welcoming and kind while respecting and enforcing Casa Cosecha's rules around alcohol service.
  • Pay close attention to possible over-service. Bartenders are expected to slow or stop alcohol service when appropriate rather than continuing to serve an obviously intoxicated guest.
  • When a guest should not drive, help make sure they have a safe alternative, such as an Uber, taxi, designated driver, or ride from someone they trust.
  • Escalate safety concerns, difficult guest situations, alcohol-related incidents, or other serious issues to ownership immediately.
  • Communicate operational problems and recurring inefficiencies to ownership. We want team members who notice when something isn't working and help us continuously make the operation better.

Closing Responsibility

Closing is an important part of this position—not an afterthought.

The closing bartender is responsible, together with the assigned closing runner, for making sure Casa Cosecha is properly shut down and prepared for the next morning.

This includes completing the closing checklist; cleaning and resetting the bar; properly storing products and securing alcohol; completing required POS and payment procedures; checking that appropriate equipment, lights, and other items are turned off; checking doors and access points; locking and securing the establishment; taking care of trash, glassware, tools, surfaces, and supplies; and restocking so the morning team doesn't walk into unfinished work.

The shift isn't finished just because the last customer leaves. The closing bartender owns the close with their closing runner and makes sure the space is ready for the next team.

Skills & Experience

Previous bartending experience is strongly preferred, along with a solid understanding of classic cocktails, spirits, wine, and beer. You should be comfortable using a POS system, handling payments accurately, managing several orders at once, and maintaining excellent service during busy periods.

We're especially interested in people with strong hospitality instincts: kind, observant, dependable, calm under pressure, and comfortable enforcing boundaries respectfully.

You should be able to work independently while also functioning as part of a small team. Attention to detail matters here—from how a cocktail leaves the bar to whether everything is actually locked at the end of the night.

Most importantly, we're looking for someone who understands the balance we're after at Casa Cosecha: relaxed without being careless, lively without being chaotic, professional without feeling stiff, and welcoming without compromising our standards.
