Bartender

From the team behind Red Hook Tavern, we are looking for bartenders to join our team at Kings Tavern, located within Kings Athletic Club. Kings Athletic Club is a private members club serving individuals and FAMILIES who appreciate the highest caliber of hospitality, athletics, dining, and personalized service.

Candidates should be knowledgeable, approachable, and comfortable communicating with guests from a variety of backgrounds. Flexibility and adaptability are essential, as service may extend beyond the bar to different areas of the club based on members' needs. We are looking for individuals who understand the importance of creating a warm, familiar, and personalized experience for guests of ALL AGES and who have a genuine love of hospitality.

Qualifications & Responsibilities

• Strong knowledge of classic cocktails and N/A cocktails, their components, and proper preparation techniques.
• Basic to intermediate knowledge of wine regions, varietals, grapes, beer, and spirits.
• Ability to retain detailed information about menu items, cocktails, wines, and other beverages, including their inspirations, components, appropriate glassware, allergens, and taste profiles.
• Desire to continually learn more about food, wine, cocktails, spirits, and hospitality.
• Ability to provide personalized, attentive service while maintaining professionalism and discretion.
• Ability to recognize and remember members' preferences and contribute to a familiar, welcoming club environment.
• Strong understanding of steps of service, proper bar etiquette, and responsible alcohol service.
• Ability to anticipate members' and guests' needs and respond proactively.
• Ability to maintain an organized, clean, and fully stocked bar throughout service.
• Ability to accurately handle debit and credit card transactions.
• Ability to communicate allergies, dietary restrictions, and special requests accurately to the kitchen and service team.
• Ability to work collaboratively with servers, bartenders, hosts, culinary staff, and other club departments.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• Warm, professional demeanor.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Punctual and dependable.
• Comfortable adapting service to different areas of the club as needed.
• Ability to lift 40+ pounds and stand/walk for up to 8 hours.
• A commitment of 3–4 shifts per week is required. Weekend availability is a must.

This position will also require support responsibilities, including:

• Preparing and serving classic and contemporary cocktails, wine, beer, spirits, and non-alcoholic beverages.
• Maintaining a clean, organized, and fully stocked bar throughout service.
• Running food and beverages to members and guests throughout the club.
• Clearing and resetting tables and bar areas as needed.
• Maintaining tables and guest areas throughout service, including water service and clearing.
• Polishing and restocking glassware, silverware, barware, and service pieces.
• Preparing coffee and espresso beverages.
• Preparing fresh-made-to-order smoothies and juice beverages.
• Completing opening and closing bar side work in a timely and thorough manner.
• Supporting servers, bartenders, and other team members throughout service.
• Assisting with dining room setup and breakdown as needed.
• Assisting with service in other areas of the club when needed.
• Maintaining a high level of cleanliness, organization, and attention to detail throughout all areas of service.
