Bartender

Murphy’s on the Green is looking for an experienced, dependable bartender to join our team. We’re a busy restaurant and bar in downtown Hanover, serving regulars, visitors, and the Dartmouth community. There’s strong earning potential here, and we’re looking for someone who brings the experience, reliability, and work ethic to match.

Schedule and availability

We want to be upfront about the shifts we’re hiring for:

• Monday, Wednesday, and Sunday: Run your own bar shifts as the primary bartender.
• Additional busy nights: Work alongside our lead bartender on Thursday, Friday, or Saturday, depending on the week.
• Potential serving shifts: Additional serving shifts may be available if you’re interested.

All shifts are evening shifts, approximately 4 PM–2 AM. Monday, Wednesday, and Sunday availability is required. Flexibility for additional busy nights is preferred, with those shifts varying from week to week.

Who we’re looking for

You should have prior bartending experience and be comfortable running a bar independently and working alongside another bartender during busy service. A solid knowledge of classic cocktails and a willingness to learn our seasonal cocktail menu are essential.

We’re looking for someone who:

• Gives friendly, attentive service while keeping up with both bar guests and dining room drink orders.
• Keeps a clean, organized, well-stocked bar and follows through on opening and closing duties.
• Communicates well, works well with the team, and pitches in without waiting to be asked.
• Takes responsible alcohol service and ID checks seriously.
• Shows up on time, prepared, and ready to work the full shift.

We need someone we can count on consistently. These are regular shifts with real responsibility, and dependable attendance and follow-through are essential.

Pay and training

$6/hour plus tips. Over the past six months, our bartenders averaged approximately $36/hour in credit card tips alone, in addition to hourly wages, cash tips, and server tip-outs. Actual earnings vary by shift, hours worked, and business volume.

We’re looking to begin training soon so our new bartender is comfortable with our menu, systems, and service before November.
