Job Description: Bartender

· Job Title: Bartender

· Department: Front of House

· Reports to: Bar Manager/ General Manager

Summary:

· A bartender is responsible for mixing and serving drinks to guests directly or through servers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Greet and interact with customers

· Check and maintain quality and speed of service

· Suggest specialty drinks and food items

· Prepare drink orders for both bar patrons and server’s tables

· Communicate with team members throughout the shift

· Check IDs before serving alcoholic drinks

· Maintain a clean workspace and complete all required side work

Qualifications:

· Must be able to perform each essential duty to a satisfactory level.

· Education and/or Experience:

o 2 years secondary education and be at least 21 years of age.

· Computer Skills:

o Ability to operate POS register system

o Ability to understand Microsoft Windows

· Language Skills:

o Ability to read and comprehend simple English instructions, short correspondence, and memos.

o Ability to write simple correspondence.

o Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers and fellow team members.

· Mathematical Skills:

o Ability to add, subtract, multiple, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

o Ability to compute rate and percent.

· Reasoning Ability:

o Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one-or- two step instructions.

o Ability to efficiently work with people.

· Other Skills and Abilities:

o Must have excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills.

o Must have a positive, courteous, energetic, and enthusiastic personality. These traits should be used in all aspects of customer and coworker interactions.

· Physical Demands:

o While performing the duties of this job a bartender is regularly required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

o Reach with hands and arms to move items up to 50 pounds.

o Talk and hear.

o Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision and depth perception.
