What they need

Terrain Café is a chef-driven, garden-to-table restaurant that celebrates seasonal ingredients and the art of gathering through thoughtful menus and warm, welcoming spaces rooted in craftsmanship and heartfelt hospitality.

We are seeking a versatile and experienced Bartender to join our collaborative group dedicated to crafting memorable guest experiences through exceptional food and beverage service. This hybrid role blends craft beverage preparation- including cocktails, coffee, and specialty drinks- with outstanding table and counter service. You’ll serve a wide range of beverages- from espresso and herbal teas to local wines and seasonal cocktails- while delivering warm, knowledgeable, and polished service. The ideal candidate has strong bartending skills, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is open to learning new techniques – barista or bartender - if not already experienced.

Role Responsibilities:

Guest Experience & Service

  • Provide warm, friendly service to guests seated at the bar, counter, or nearby tables by greeting them with a smile and eye contact and ensuring they feel welcome throughout their visit.
  • Guide guests through seasonal food and beverage offerings with confidence and enthusiasm.
  • Maintain a clean, well-stocked, and organized station throughout the shift.
  • Ensure all services are accurate, efficient, and delivered with care.

Bartending Duties

  • Mix and serve cocktails, beer, wine, and specialty drinks to recipe and presentation standards.
  • Educate guests on our beverage offerings, including local wines, craft beers, and non-alcoholic options.
  • Recommend and explain rotating food and drink pairings.
  • Set up and break down bar service stations, including prep of garnish and batched ingredients, and cleaning bar equipment and footprint.
  • Monitor alcohol consumption and verify guest IDs for responsible service.
  • Support inventory management and stock rotation.

Barista Duties

  • Operate espresso machines and grinders with accuracy and care.
  • Prepare espresso drinks, teas, and seasonal beverages with precision and presentation in mind.
  • Create visually appealing drinks, including latte art.
  • Rotate through bartending roles (e.g., espresso machine, service bar, and counter service)
  • Monitor freshness of coffee, tea, and milk products.
  • Maintain a clean and organized prep area to support freshness and reduce waste.

Operational Excellence

  • Use POS for entering orders, opening/closing tabs, and processing payments.
  • Follow all cash handling procedures, including cash drawer reconciliation
  • Complete opening, closing, and side work checklists.
  • Uphold health, safety, and cleanliness standards at all times.
  • Support other FOH roles (e.g., bussing, hosting, dish) as needed and trained.
  • Participate in seasonal menu tastings to enhance product knowledge and service quality.

Teamwork & Culture

  • Communicate and collaborate with the FOH and BOH teams to ensure smooth service.

Role Qualifications:

  • Prefer a 2-year minimum of bartending experience, with strong cocktail preparation skills.
  • Barista experience is a plus but not required—ideal candidates have general coffee or tea knowledge or a willingness to learn.
  • Friendly, guest-focused communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask and remain composed under pressure.
  • Must be physically able to:
  • Stand for long periods
  • Bend, reach, and perform repetitive tasks
  • Lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Flexible availability preferred- may include mornings, evenings, weekends, and select holidays.
