Bartender - Duty Manager

Location: Cardrona
Hours of Work: Guaranteed a minimum of 30hours per week. Rostered hours, including weekends and nights.

About the role

We are looking for a professional, reliable and proactive candidate to work behind our busy bar at the Cardrona Hotel. This is a hands-on role that requires a passion for hospitality and customer service, an eye for detail and strong communication skills. We host many functions, events, and weddings, which means lots of variety to keep you on your toes.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain our award-winning hospitality reputation by providing outstanding customer service.

• Manage the premises as the duty manager in relation to the Sale of Liquor Act 2012 and manage the staff to ensure they are working within the law.

• Taking orders with a POS system.

• Money handling and cashing up of the till / POS and daily reports.

• Training new and existing staff to ensure the front of house and back of house staff deliver prompt and efficient service in relation to sales of meals, beverages, snacks, etc. and learn a good general knowledge of the hotel's procedures.

• Maintain a high level of morale and team cooperation.

• Adhere to sanitation, safety and alcohol control policies.

About you

• At least 3 years experience in a similar fast-paced bar/restaurant
• Have a current New Zealand Managers Certificate
• Ability to work quickly and safely
• Excellent verbal communication skills

The position is available from early September. A typical shift is a 3pm start and work until we close, around 10:30pm/11pm. The job includes weekend work and work on public holidays including Christmas and New Year's.

We are looking for someone who wants to work here long-term and can commit to the entire spring and summer season, meaning until mid-April 2027.

You must be available for a chat and trial shift.
