Red Rock Downtown Barbecue — Ypsilanti, MI

Red Rock Downtown Barbecue is looking for an experienced bartender with strong leadership skills to help lead our bar team. We combine slow-smoked barbecue, classic cocktails, and warm neighborhood hospitality in an upscale-casual setting.

This is a hands-on position for someone who enjoys working behind the bar while taking ownership of its day-to-day operations. Our goal is simple: give every guest an experience so good they can’t wait to come back.

What You’ll Do

● Bartend during service, preparing consistent, well-made cocktails and providing attentive, friendly hospitality.

● Lead by example during busy shifts, keeping the team organized, communicating clearly, and maintaining a positive atmosphere.

● Train and coach bartenders on drink recipes, service standards, preparation, and bar procedures.

● Manage bar inventory, ordering, pars, and stock rotation while controlling waste and beverage costs.

● Maintain cocktail recipes, prep standards, and consistent presentation.

● Collaborate with ownership on seasonal cocktails, beverage offerings, and promotions.

● Oversee bar opening and closing procedures, cleanliness, organization, and equipment care.

● Resolve guest concerns with professionalism and sound judgment.

● Coordinate with the front-of-house and kitchen teams to keep service running smoothly.

● Follow responsible alcohol service practices and maintain food safety and sanitation standards.

What We’re Looking For

● Previous bartending experience in a busy, full-service restaurant or cocktail bar.

● Strong knowledge of classic cocktails, spirits, beer, and wine.

● Bar management, shift leadership, or staff training experience preferred.

● An organized, dependable approach and attention to detail.

● Confidence managing inventory, ordering, and daily bar preparation.

● The ability to stay composed, efficient, and welcoming during high-volume service.

● A supportive leadership style with clear communication and accountability.

● Availability to work evenings and weekends.
