Our client is a respected CA practice with national and international reach. Their office continues to grow, and we’re seeking a Business Advisory Manager or Senior Manager who thrives in client leadership, team development, and shaping the direction of a premium forward‑thinking practice.

You’ll work closely with business owners and senior leaders, deliver commercially grounded advice, and guide a capable team across a broad portfolio of compliance and advisory assignments. This role offers variety, autonomy, and a clear pathway for those who want to step into future senior leadership.

About the Role

In this key leadership role reporting directly to the partners, you will take ownership of client engagements from planning through delivery, ensuring high‑quality outcomes and strong client relationships. You will provide practical advice across accounting, tax, and business management, helping clients make informed decisions that drive performance and long‑term success.

You will also work alongside senior leaders with extensive experience advising larger SMEs across manufacturing, construction, industrial, property, retail, wholesale and more. The partners' expertise spans tax structuring, succession planning, overseas expansion, IRD audits and disputes, financial modelling, valuations, cashflow projections, business planning and strategy. Their commercially grounded, relationship‑driven approach creates an excellent environment for a motivated business advisory managerial professional to grow... at their own pace!

This is a hands‑on leadership role suited to someone who enjoys balancing technical depth with people management, client interaction, and broader advisory exposure.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a portfolio of key client engagements
• Provide practical, commercially focused advice across accounting, tax, and high-end business advisory
• Review financial statements, management reports, and tax compliance work
• Support clients with strategic planning, forecasting, valuations, business improvement and other value-add initiatives
• Advise on tax‑effective structures, GST, FBT, PAYE, complex trusts and multi-entity groups
• Guide and mentor a sizeable team, fostering a high‑performance, growth‑focused culture
• Communicate complex matters clearly and confidently
• Deal with technical issues appropriately and ensure the firm's high quality standards are met

Experience, Technical Competencies & Attributes

We are seeking someone with:

• 5+ years’ experience in business advisory within a New Zealand CA environment
• Strong technical grounding across accounting, tax, and advisory
• CA qualification
• Proven leadership capability and confidence managing complex client relationships
• Excellent communication skills and commercial judgement
• A proactive, detail‑focused approach and interest in developing others
