Battery Development Director

Our client is a technology-driven organization specializing in advanced energy solutions and battery technologies. With strong R&D and manufacturing capabilities, the company develops innovative rechargeable battery products and collaborates closely with customers across industrial, commercial, and emerging technology sectors.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and commercialization of rechargeable battery technologies, covering both existing and next-generation battery platforms.
• Formulate and execute technology roadmaps aligned with market trends, customer needs, and long-term business objectives.
• Drive end-to-end new product introduction (NPI), from concept development and validation through pilot production and mass manufacturing.
• Lead cross-functional collaboration across R&D, Manufacturing, Quality, and Commercial teams to accelerate product development and market deployment.
• Act as the primary technical interface with customers and external stakeholders, leading technical reviews, solution discussions, and problem-solving activities.
• Support commercial teams in customer qualification, pre-sales activities, and technical proposal development.
• Provide technical leadership on manufacturing optimization, yield improvement, product industrialization, and quality enhancement initiatives.
• Review customer feedback and field performance data to drive continuous improvement and corrective actions.
• Manage technology projects, resources, budgets, and performance against agreed milestones and objectives.
• Build relationships with research institutes, universities, suppliers, and industry partners to strengthen innovation capabilities and technology leadership.

Qualifications

• PhD in Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, or related disciplines.
• 12+ years of experience in battery technology, energy storage, data centre power systems, or related industries.
• Proven track record in battery product development, industrialization, and commercialization.
• Direct experience with rechargeable battery technologies; exposure to NiZn battery technology is highly desirable.
• Strong technical understanding of battery design, materials, manufacturing processes, and performance optimization.
• Experience in customer-facing technical roles, supporting strategic customers and external stakeholders.
• Ability to translate customer requirements into technology strategies, product roadmaps, and development plans.
• Strong project management skills with experience leading cross-functional teams.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills in English and Chinese (Mandarin).
• Comfortable working in a multi-site, customer-facing, and international environment.
