Battery Engineer

💼 Job Description Help shape the battery technology behind the next generation of electric vehicles. In this role, you combine technical depth with a broad view of product development, taking batteries from early requirements and supplier selection through integration, production and in-service support. You will be the technical reference for battery-related decisions. Working with engineering teams, purchasing and suppliers, you will turn product needs into practical solutions and follow them through the full lifecycle.

What you'll do

• Set the technical direction. Assess emerging battery technologies, compare available solutions and develop a roadmap that balances performance, safety, reliability and future product needs.
• Turn needs into specifications. Define battery requirements, interfaces and acceptance criteria. Review design proposals and understand the consequences of technical changes.
• Drive integration. Work with mechanical, electrical and software engineers to ensure the battery performs as intended within the vehicle.
• Work closely with suppliers. Lead technical discussions, evaluate proposed components and resolve questions throughout development.
• Support verification and release. Contribute to test planning, review results and help demonstrate that the design meets its requirements.
• Solve problems throughout the lifecycle. Support production and service teams, investigate failures and turn findings into improvements for current and future designs.
• Build shared expertise. Document key decisions and make battery knowledge accessible to colleagues across projects.

📚 Profile / Requirements What you bring

You have an engineering background in electrical engineering, electronics, mechatronics, automotive engineering or a related field. Relevant practical experience is equally valuable.

You understand battery technology or have a solid foundation in embedded electronics and electrified vehicles, with the motivation to deepen your expertise. You can work through complex technical questions, define clear requirements and explain your reasoning to people from different disciplines.

We are looking for someone who takes responsibility, follows issues through to resolution and enjoys working across team boundaries. You should be comfortable moving between long-term planning and hands-on technical problem-solving. A good command of Dutch and English is required.
