Job Overview

We are seeking a motivated and dependable Bearer/Driver to join our team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for:

Duties

• To be part of a team acting as coffin bearers for funeral services including cremation and burial.
• Carry out removals of deceased upon request in any situation.
• Drive either a hearse, limousine or any other vehicle and ensure that the vehicle is thoroughly cleaned inside and out after use.
• Participate in the On Call Rota for the recovery of deceased outside normal working hours through the weekend from 1700 on Friday until 0900 on Monday. Thereafter from 1700 until 0900 for every weekday evening until Friday at 0900 at the end of that week. Consumption of alcohol whilst On Call or driving is not permitted.
• Assist the Funeral Director with the handling of trestles, donations boxes, service sheets, floral tributes and any other items or equipment that might be required for the funeral service.
• Assist in placing deceased in coffins as and when required.

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license
• Demonstrated ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently
• Excellent communication skills to interact professionally with clients and team members
• Basic vehicle maintenance knowledge to identify common issues and ensure vehicle safety
• Reliable work ethic with a focus on punctuality and attention to detail
• Ability to follow directions accurately while managing multiple deliveries or routes

Pay: £15.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20.0 – 40.0 per week
