What they need

Before & After Care Coordinator

Are you dependable, organized, energetic, and someone others can truly count on?

Bright Side Early Care & Learning Center is looking for a Before & After Care Coordinator to help lead our School Age Program for children ages 5 to 12.

For this position, dependability, consistency, and taking ownership of the program are more important to us than having many years of childcare experience.

We are looking for someone who wants a long-term role, takes pride in being reliable, and can confidently help keep our Before & After Care Program running smoothly each day.

Schedule

  • Monday through Friday split shift
  • Morning: 7:00 AM to 10:00 AM
  • Afternoon: 3:30 PM to 5:30 PM
  • Applicants must be available and committed to working both portions of the split shift consistently
  • At times, additional hours may be available between shifts to assist with classroom coverage and staff breaks
  • During school closures, winter break, and spring break, our School Age Program operates full days, with shifts of up to 8 hours
  • Summer Camp: This position becomes a full-time Monday through Friday position during our summer program, approximately May 20 through August 4

The Most Important Qualities for This Role

We are looking for someone who:

  • Demonstrates exceptional dependability and punctuality
  • Is committed to the split-shift schedule for the long term
  • Takes responsibility for making sure the program runs smoothly
  • Notices what needs to be done and takes initiative without waiting to be asked
  • Communicates early and professionally when issues arise
  • Can confidently lead and supervise groups of school-age children
  • Maintains appropriate expectations, structure, and routines
  • Treats the program as something they are responsible for, not simply a shift they are assigned to
  • Brings a positive, mature, and professional attitude to work each day

What You'll Do

  • Help coordinate the daily operation of the Before & After Care Program
  • Create a fun, structured, and positive environment for children ages 5 to 12
  • Lead games, enrichment activities, projects, and recreational experiences
  • Assist students with homework and encourage positive study habits
  • Maintain appropriate supervision, routines, and behavior expectations
  • Communicate professionally with children, parents, teachers, and management
  • Help ensure children arrive at and depart from the program safely and on schedule
  • Safely transport children to and from local elementary schools and field trips using Bright Side vehicles
  • Keep the program organized, prepared, and ready for each day
  • Step in and solve routine issues as they arise rather than waiting for constant direction

Experience and Qualifications

Experience working with children is helpful, but we are willing to train the right person who demonstrates strong reliability, maturity, leadership, and long-term commitment.

Experience in any of the following areas is a plus:

  • Childcare
  • Before and after school programs
  • Summer camps
  • Recreation programs
  • Teaching
  • Coaching
  • Youth programs

Applicants should also:

  • Have strong communication skills
  • Be comfortable driving children in company vehicles
  • Be willing to obtain CPR/First Aid certification
  • Be willing to complete required training
  • Be able to work professionally as part of a team
  • Be able to manage responsibility without needing constant supervision

Why Join Bright Side?

  • Take ownership of an important and enjoyable program
  • Build meaningful relationships with elementary-age children and their families
  • Enjoy a consistent school-year schedule
  • Have access to additional hours during school closures and breaks
  • Transition into full-time hours during Summer Camp
  • Work with a supportive team focused on providing children with a safe, positive, and engaging environment

If you are someone who takes pride in being dependable, enjoys leading children, and wants a position where you can truly make the program your own, we would love to hear from you. Apply today.
