Build a Career in Behavioral Health — No RBT Certification Required

The Inspired Community Project, Inc. (TICP) is seeking motivated, compassionate individuals to join our Behavior Technician Apprenticeship Program, a New York State Department of Labor Registered Apprenticeship designed to prepare participants for a career as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT).

This is a full-time, paid, hands-on training opportunity for individuals who are interested in working with young children and developing professional skills in behavioral health, early childhood education, and Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA).

You do not need to already be an RBT to apply. We provide the training, supervision, mentorship, and clinical experience necessary to work toward RBT certification.

About The Inspired Community Project

TICP is a Bronx-based nonprofit organization serving neurodivergent children and their families through an interdisciplinary model of care. Our onsite team includes professionals in behavioral health, early childhood education, speech-language therapy, occupational therapy, and related services.

Our apprentices work directly alongside experienced educators, behavioral professionals, and clinicians while gaining meaningful experience supporting children in a classroom-based environment.

What You'll Do

As a Behavior Technician Apprentice, you will:

  • Provide direct support to young children in our onsite classrooms.
  • Assist with the implementation of individualized behavioral and educational strategies.
  • Support children with communication, social-emotional, play, adaptive, and daily living skills.
  • Learn to implement principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) under supervision.
  • Collect and document data related to children's goals and progress.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, RBTs, BCBAs/LBAs, therapists, and other members of our interdisciplinary team.
  • Participate in structured training, Related Instruction, supervision, and professional development.
  • Receive coaching and feedback and demonstrate the ability to apply learned skills in the classroom.
  • Maintain professional, reliable, and consistent attendance throughout the apprenticeship.

What the Apprenticeship Includes

Our 12-month paid apprenticeship program includes:

  • Full-time paid employment at $18.00 per hour
  • 40 paid hours per week
  • Paid lunch
  • Employer-sponsored 40-hour RBT training course
  • 50+ hours of paid training and Related Instruction
  • Weekly mentorship and supervision
  • Approximately 2,000 hours of structured on-the-job learning
  • Hands-on experience working with neurodivergent children
  • Preparation and support toward meeting requirements for Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification
  • Opportunities for continued professional growth within TICP
