What they need

Our Story:

Crisis Prevention Institute, Inc. (CPI) is the worldwide leader in evidence‑based de‑escalation and crisis prevention training and dementia care services. Our programs teach professionals the skills to recognize, prevent, and respond to crises in the workplace. Since 1980, we’ve helped train more than 17 million people across service‑oriented industries including education, health care, behavioral health, long‑term care, human services, security, corporate, and retail.

At CPI, we are dedicated to changing behaviors and reducing conflict for the Care, Welfare, Safety, and Security of everyone. We believe empathy, meaningful connections, personal safety, and security are the antidotes to fear and anxiety. This philosophy is central to everything we do and traces back to our beginning.

As a member of the team, you can expect to:

  • Make a difference through your work — You’ll be proud to tell your family and friends what you do.
  • Gain significant career experience within a fast‑growing organization — From entry‑level roles to executive leadership.
  • Feel fulfilled and have fun — We work hard but make time to build meaningful relationships and celebrate wins.

The Role:

The Behavioral Crisis Prevention Instructor, also referred to as Global Professional Instructor (GPI), is responsible for delivering CPI’s high‑impact core programming and ancillary programs while creating a superior customer experience for training participants. The GPI serves as a strategic training subject matter expert (SME) who understands the full life cycle of CPI offerings. This role supports CPI Certified Instructors (CIs) with preparation, facilitation, and classroom management, delivering training in standardized formats and collaborating across departments to drive learning, culture, and performance. The GPI interacts with program participants and their designees and maintains frequent communication both internally and externally.

What You Get to Do Every Day:

  • Prepare and deliver CPI training programs, including ancillary programs, confidently and consistently while adapting to diverse learning needs and environments.
  • Apply adult‑learning best practices to improve learner outcomes.
  • Maintain proficiency in CPI training programs.
  • Serve as a resource for CIs by providing consultation, coaching, co‑training, and needed resources.
  • Ensure accurate and efficient documentation of GPI‑led training programs.
  • Plan, travel, and track expenses for all training events.
  • Act as an intermediary between hotels, on‑site facilities, and CPI internal teams.
  • Conduct special consultations, seminars, and presentations.
  • Research relevant legislation and regulations related to violence prevention and behavior management.
  • Advise on emerging trends and issues within industries served by CPI programs.
  • Engage with various departments to understand the full cycle of the program from sale to delivery.
  • Participate in cross‑functional upskilling to gain strategic insight into department functions and interdependencies.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

You Need to Have:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • First Aid/CPR certification
  • Valid driver’s license/Real ID
  • Two or more years of experience in the human services field
  • Ability to travel up to 90%
  • Strong organizational skills and a customer‑focused, solution‑oriented mindset
  • Strong presentation skills, an engaging listening style, approachability, and the ability to meet the needs of a diverse participant population
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams
  • Ability to demonstrate and perform specific physical intervention techniques

We’d Love to See:

  • Bilingual (Spanish or French)
  • Experience training and teaching adult learners
  • Experience working in a high‑impact, fast‑paced learning environment

What We Offer:

  • Competitive salary
  • Comprehensive benefits package
  • 401(k)
  • PTO
  • Health & Wellness Days
  • Paid Volunteer Time Off
  • Continuing education and training
  • Hybrid or remote work schedule
  • Paid Parental Leave
