Behaviour Lead - Secondary SEND and SEMH

Location: Wythenshawe, Manchester, M23 9TT

Salary: £25,800 actual annual salary

Contract: Permanent, full-time; term time plus staff training days

Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:15am–4:00pm

Start date: ASAP

We are recruiting a Behaviour Lead to strengthen consistent and effective pupil support across a specialist secondary setting.

You will work with pupils aged 11–16 with autism, social, emotional and mental health needs, and other additional requirements. Combining direct pupil work with staff guidance, you will help colleagues understand individual needs and improve engagement in learning.

The role:

• Lead the implementation and review of agreed behaviour approaches.

• Help colleagues use individual support plans consistently.

• Review patterns and triggers to identify practical improvements.

• Coordinate targeted support for pupils with complex needs.

• Coach staff in prevention, de-escalation and relationship-based approaches.

• Contribute to risk assessments and reviews following incidents.

• Work with teaching and pastoral colleagues to coordinate support.

• Evaluate the effect of interventions on engagement and wellbeing.

About you:

• Significant experience supporting pupils with SEND and SEMH needs.

• Leadership, coaching or staff development experience.

• Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions under pressure.

• A reflective approach informed by observations and evidence.

• Confidence maintaining clear expectations while understanding individual needs.
