What they need

Advanced Behaviour Support Practitioner

Pavilion Pathways | Sydney, NSW

Specialist Behaviour Support | Mental Health | Forensic Practice | Clinical Development

Pavilion Pathways is seeking an experienced NDIS Advanced Behaviour Support Practitioner to join our Sydney-based team.

This role is suited to a practitioner with strong experience in complex mental health, forensic disability and high-risk behavioural presentations, or a psychologist looking to further develop their clinical and forensic capabilities within the NDIS Behaviour Support space.

At Pavilion Pathways, we place a strong emphasis on the clinical foundations of Behaviour Support. We want our practitioners to understand the person behind the behaviour, develop robust clinical and functional formulations and translate these into practical, evidence-based supports that improve quality of life and reduce risk.

We are offering an attractive remuneration package commensurate with your experience, qualifications and level of Behaviour Support capability, with competitive conditions designed to recognise and reward advanced clinical expertise.

Why join Pavilion Pathways?

You will benefit from:

  • Specialist clinical supervision with a Clinical and/or Forensic Endorsed Psychologist / Specialist Behaviour Support Practitioner
  • Opportunity to work towards Clinical or Forensic Psychology area of practice endorsement for eligible registered psychologists
  • Regular opportunities for case consultation and complex case formulation
  • Exposure to forensic, psychosocial disability and complex mental health presentations
  • A supportive team culture where practitioners can openly discuss challenging cases and clinical decision-making
  • Ongoing professional development and capability building
  • A strong focus on quality of clinical work, rather than simply producing NDIS reports
  • Administrative and organisational support that allows practitioners to focus on participant outcomes
  • Opportunities to contribute to the ongoing development of clinical practice within Pavilion Pathways

The role

As an Advanced Behaviour Support Practitioner, you will work with participants presenting with complex behavioural, psychological and psychosocial needs.

Your work may include:

  • Conducting comprehensive behavioural and functional assessments, risk assessments and clinical formulations
  • Developing high-quality Behaviour Support Plans
  • Working with participants with complex mental health and forensic histories
  • Assessing behaviours that may present significant risk to the participant or others
  • Developing evidence-based proactive, skill-development and reactive strategies
  • Supporting the reduction and elimination of restrictive practices
  • Providing training, coaching and implementation support to families, support workers and providers
  • Collaborating with psychiatrists, psychologists, allied health professionals, support coordinators and other stakeholders
  • Providing clinically informed recommendations to the NDIS regarding support needs and risk
  • Participating in regular clinical supervision and multidisciplinary case consultation
  • For candidates who are registered psychologists, the role can also include the opportunity to provide psychological therapy alongside Specialist Behaviour Support, allowing you to maintain and further develop your therapeutic skills while working with a diverse range of clinical presentations.

Flexible & Hybrid Working

This is a hybrid role, combining the flexibility of working remotely with face-to-face visits with participants in their homes and community settings across Sydney. We also have monthly in-person team meetings to foster team building and collaboration.

Pavilion Pathways provides:

  • Laptop and mobile phone for work use
  • Flexibility to work remotely for report writing, case preparation, stakeholder meetings and other suitable duties
  • Kilometre reimbursement for approved work-related travel in accordance with company policy

As the role involves community-based participant visits, applicants must hold a current Australian driver's licence and have access to their own reliable vehicle.

Who we are looking for

You may be a:

  • Psychologist with experience or a strong interest in forensic psychology, complex mental health and Behaviour Support
  • Psychologist seeking a workplace that can support development towards Clinical or Forensic Psychology endorsement
  • Advanced Behaviour Support Practitioner with demonstrated capability working with complex and high-risk participants
  • Behaviour Support Practitioner with a strong background in forensic disability, psychosocial disability or mental health

We are particularly interested in practitioners who can demonstrate strong skills in assessment, formulation, risk management and evidence-based intervention.

Experience working with presentations such as schizophrenia and psychotic disorders, personality disorders, intellectual disability, autism, trauma, substance use, offending behaviours, aggression, self-harm, sexualised behaviours or other complex risk presentations will be highly regarded.

About Pavilion Pathways

It requires sound assessment, strong clinical reasoning, evidence-based formulation and interventions that can actually be implemented in a person's everyday environment.

We are building a team of practitioners who value clinical quality, professional development and collaborative practice.

If you are an experienced practitioner looking for a supportive environment where you can further develop your clinical, forensic and Behaviour Support expertise, we would like to hear from you.
