What they need

Make a meaningful difference through positive behaviour support

Remarkability is seeking a compassionate, capable and values-driven registered Behaviour Support Practitioner to join our growing team.

This is an opportunity to deliver high-quality, person-centred behaviour support that improves quality of life, builds the capacity of families and support teams, and reduces the need for restrictive practices.

You will work with children, young people and adults with disability, alongside their families, carers, support providers, medical practitioners and allied health professionals. The position offers a varied caseload and the opportunity to develop practical, evidence-based strategies that create meaningful and lasting change.

About Remarkability

Remarkability provides psychology and behaviour support services to children, young people, adults and families across the Gympie and Sunshine Coast regions.

Our approach is collaborative, trauma-informed and grounded in respect for each person’s dignity, rights and individual circumstances. We are committed to delivering practical support that is clinically sound, compliant with NDIS requirements and genuinely useful in everyday life.

About the role

As a Behaviour Support Practitioner, you will assess behaviour support needs, develop comprehensive plans and work collaboratively with the people responsible for implementing those plans.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting functional behaviour assessments and identifying the factors contributing to behaviours of concern.
  • Developing interim and comprehensive behaviour support plans containing evidence-based, proactive and person-centred strategies.
  • Designing interventions that address the underlying function of behaviour and improve each participant’s safety, wellbeing, independence and quality of life.
  • Working collaboratively with participants, families, carers, support workers, schools, medical practitioners, allied health professionals and other service providers.

  • Monitoring the implementation and effectiveness of behaviour support plans and adjusting strategies when required.

  • Reviewing relevant incidents, identifying unmet behaviour support needs and recommending appropriate responses.
  • Supporting the reduction and elimination of restrictive practices.
  • Ensuring behaviour support services comply with the NDIS Quality and Safeguarding Framework, NDIS Restrictive Practices and Behaviour Support Rules and other relevant legislation.
  • Lodging behaviour support plans containing regulated restrictive practices with the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission.
  • Maintaining accurate clinical records, reports, appointment information and billable service records.
  • Developing practical resources, visual supports and training materials for participants and their support teams.

About you

You are a thoughtful and organised practitioner who can combine clinical knowledge with practical, real-world support. You communicate clearly, build strong professional relationships and understand the importance of involving participants and the people who know them best.

You will bring:

  • Experience supporting children and/or adults with disability and complex behaviour support needs.
  • Knowledge and experience in functional behaviour assessment and comprehensive behaviour support planning.
  • A sound understanding of positive behaviour support, evidence-based intervention and trauma-informed practice.
  • Working knowledge of the NDIS Restrictive Practices and Behaviour Support Rules and relevant disability legislation.
  • Strong written communication and report-writing skills.
  • The ability to communicate effectively with participants, families and professionals from different backgrounds.
  • Excellent organisation, time-management and attention-to-detail skills.
  • The ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • A professional, flexible and solutions-focused approach.

The successful applicant will hold, or be willing and eligible to obtain:

  • Registration or suitability to practice as a Behaviour Support Practitioner.
