What they need
Behaviour Support Practitioner - Core or Proficient
Ipswich | Full-time or part-time | Flexible working arrangements
Meaningful work. Strong clinical support. Room to grow.
Great behaviour support starts with understanding the person - their needs, their environment and what matters to them.
At Therapy Partners, we’re looking for an experienced Core or Proficient Behaviour Support Practitioner who shares that approach and wants to help people with disability build safer, more connected and fulfilling lives.
As we expand into Qld, you’ll have the opportunity to help shape our local service, backed by an established Queensland team. You’ll have access to Advanced and Proficient Behaviour Support Practitioners, structured clinical supervision and multidisciplinary colleagues who understand the work you do.
Why join Therapy Partners?
We know that doing your best clinical work takes time, support and a sustainable workload. We offer:
- Clinical support from day one, with experienced practitioners to discuss complex presentations, review plans and help you develop your practice.
- A manageable caseload, with space for quality assessments, thoughtful planning and meaningful participant outcomes.
- Flexible working arrangements, with full-time and part-time opportunities.
- Multidisciplinary collaboration across Behaviour Support, Occupational Therapy, Speech Pathology and Psychology.
- Approachable, supportive leadership that values your clinical judgement and welcomes your ideas.
- The opportunity to help grow our NSW service, while drawing on the experience and systems of an established provider.
Your role
You’ll work with children, young people and adults with disability, alongside their families, carers and support teams, to understand behaviour and develop practical strategies that improve everyday life.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Conducting Functional Behaviour Assessments to understand the needs and circumstances influencing behaviour.
- Developing individualised Interim and Comprehensive Behaviour Support Plans.
- Supporting participants and their networks to implement strategies through education, coaching and direct intervention.
- Monitoring outcomes and reviewing plans to ensure strategies remain practical and effective.
- Collaborating with families, support providers, clinicians and other key stakeholders.
- Promoting positive behaviour support and working towards reducing and eliminating restrictive practices.
- Maintaining clear, timely clinical documentation and completing required reporting in line with NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission requirements.
About you
You’re thoughtful, collaborative and confident building relationships. You can translate assessment findings into practical strategies, and you value the knowledge and experience of participants and the people supporting them.
You’ll bring:
- Recognition by the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission as suitable to practise as a Behaviour Support Practitioner, with capability at Core or Proficient level.
- A relevant tertiary qualification in Psychology, Social Work, Behavioural Science, Counselling, Psychotherapy or a related discipline.
- At least one year of experience working as a Behaviour Support Practitioner.
- Experience conducting functional assessments and developing behaviour support plans.
- An understanding of positive behaviour support, restrictive practices and relevant NDIS requirements.
- Strong communication, organisation and report-writing skills.
You’ll also need a current driver’s licence, an NDIS Worker Screening Check and a NSW Working with Children Check, or willingness to obtain the required checks before commencing.
