BESS Project Engineer

As a BESS Project Engineer, you will support the delivery of utility-scale Battery Energy Storage System projects across the Netherlands, coordinating engineering activities from design and procurement through construction, grid connection and commissioning.

Working alongside project managers, EPC contractors, equipment suppliers and technical teams, you will ensure engineering deliverables meet project specifications, quality standards and programme requirements.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Coordinating engineering activities across multiple BESS projects.
• Reviewing technical drawings, electrical designs, specifications and equipment documentation.
• Managing technical interfaces between battery systems, PCS, transformers, MV infrastructure and grid connections.
• Liaising with EPC contractors, suppliers and consultants to resolve technical issues.
• Supporting procurement, construction, installation, testing and commissioning activities.
• Monitoring engineering progress, identifying risks and supporting corrective actions.
• Ensuring compliance with relevant technical standards, project specifications and safety requirements.
• Conducting site visits and coordinating technical handover documentation.

About You

We are looking for a proactive Project Engineer with a strong technical background and experience supporting the delivery of energy or electrical infrastructure projects.

You are likely to bring:

• Experience in BESS, renewables, power systems, substations or electrical infrastructure.
• A background in engineering coordination across design, construction and commissioning.
• Knowledge of electrical systems, grid connections and equipment integration.
• Experience working with EPC contractors, suppliers and multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong problem-solving, organisational and stakeholder management skills.
• A relevant engineering degree or equivalent experience.
• Professional fluency in English ; Dutch language skills are advantageous.
• Willingness to travel to project sites across the Netherlands.
