BI Consultant

About the role

dataengine is looking for an experienced BI Consultant with strong Power BI expertise and the consulting skills to take clients from business requirements through to high-quality reporting and analytics solutions. You'll work directly with clients to understand their business challenges, define reporting requirements, design semantic models, develop enterprise-grade Power BI solutions, and help organisations get greater value from their data.

Key responsibilities

• Lead client workshops and discovery sessions to understand business processes, KPIs and reporting requirements
• Translate business needs into practical, scalable BI and analytics solutions
• Design and develop Power BI dashboards, reports and scorecards
• Build robust semantic models, datasets, dataflows and reusable reporting assets
• Develop advanced DAX measures, calculations and business metrics
• Use Power Query and SQL for data preparation, transformation and analysis
• Create intuitive executive dashboards and operational reporting solutions
• Implement row-level security (RLS), governance and deployment standards
• Optimise Power BI solutions for performance, usability and maintainability
• Provide recommendations and guidance to clients on reporting and analytics strategy

About you

• 4+ years' experience delivering BI, reporting or analytics solutions
• 3+ years' hands-on Power BI development experience
• Proven experience delivering end-to-end BI solutions, from requirements gathering through to production
• Advanced experience with Power BI Desktop and Power BI Service
• Strong DAX skills
• Experience with Power Query and SQL
• Strong experience developing semantic models, datasets and dataflows
• Experience designing executive dashboards, operational reporting and self-service analytics
• Demonstrated consulting and stakeholder management experience
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills
